Is it just me or does anyone else think this guy is overrated playing at Fenway most of his career? He is a decent leadoff hitter with lil power and decent speed. His defense is very questionable and has a p***y arm.

Perhaps a Boston fan who watches him more can clarify. I would think there is more upside in a Jeremy Reed or something

Best leadoff hitter in the game last year.

I wouldnt mind them getting him. It will hurt us for a year, but help in the long run.

He had a better average, he was a better table setter for us last year then he was in '04, which his focus was. He would have had 10 more points on his average if he didnt have to swing with 1 hand over the last month of the season because his arm was basically dead and he was still the best leadoff hitter in the game last season.

Nomar to play 1st base.

Are the Yankees actually trying to build somethign or are they just doing the usual buying of names, has beens, and castoffs?

Nomar is a better first base option than Andy Phillips and makes the Yankees stronger at a relatively low price, no? I think that is what "building for a championship" is. Just me.

How do you even know how Nomar will play at first base?

I would think going after Scott Hatteberg or Doug Mientalpabet would make more sense.
