they kind of have to overspend for pitchers to go to that park.

 

I'm sure their staff is still gonna struggle, but a top 3 of Millwood,Eaton, and Padilla atleast looks like a major league rotation.

All the sudden the Rangers look like a contender.

Kevin Millwood and the Texas Rangers have reached a preliminary agreement on a four-year contract worth nearly $48 million, according to a person familiar with the negotiations, ESPN's Peter Gammons reported Monday night.

 

Gammons reported that the deal includes a Rangers team option for a fifth year. If the contract goes five years, it would then be worth $60 million. Texas can void the fifth year of the deal if Millwood doesn't pitch a certain number of innings in earlier years of the contract.

Well, the 5th year isn't guaranteed. But yikes, he's not worth 12 million now and especially won't be by the time 2008 rolls around.

I like what they're doing with their rotation, they're just spending in the wrong areas...Milwood isn't going to come close to a sub-3 ERA and he'll be expensive dead-weight on the roster when that 4th year comes up, very smart move of Boras to make the 5th year voidable only by innings pitched this coming season and next.
