Who will be Cabrera's 3B back-up? I'm not comfortable with either Mordecai or Fox there. (They are very good at Short and 2nd.) Lenny Harris has played there. I think Conine has, too, but probably not quick enough as he once was. I am curious and would appreciate opinions. Thanks.

Personally, I don't think we really need anyone else, as Cabrera has played nearly every day. The combo of Mordecai/Fox/Harris works for me. You've also got any call-ups we make like Matt Erickson that could take over in the middle of the game for Cabrera.

Probably Fox and Mordecai. It shouldn't matter a whole lot. Cabrera will be in there every day. If we have to worry about replacing Cabrera because of an injury, we're in even bigger trouble than we are now.

 

McKeon hasn't played backups all year. You think he's going to start playing them in September when he has a chance to win the Wild Card?

I think we are fine now, our bench is good as it is.

The only position player I can recall pitching this year is Wiki Gonzalez. He pitched because the Padres ran out of bullpen pitchers.
