February 9, 200620 yr "Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby, testified to a federal grand jury that he had been 'authorized' by Cheney and other White House 'superiors' in the summer of 2003 to disclose classified information to journalists to defend the Bush administration's use of prewar intelligence in making the case to go to war with Iraq," the National Journal reports. In addition, people with firsthand knowledge of the matter say Libby "also indicated what he will offer as a broad defense during his upcoming criminal trial: that Vice President Cheney and other senior Bush administration officials had earlier encouraged and authorized him to share classified information with journalists to build public support for going to war." http://politicalwire.com/archives/2006/02/...rized_leak.html
February 9, 200620 yr This would be devastating if it turns out to be true. It would also confirm my suspicions for some time. I find it hard to believe that if Libby was involved, Cheney wasn't.
February 9, 200620 yr Author I think the Rove assault plan this year is that everything critical of the president and Iraq(NSA spying, false intelligence, leaks, etc) is undermining the war on terror and national security. Theyre going to link everything to national security.
February 9, 200620 yr I think the Rove assault plan this year is that everything critical of the president and Iraq(NSA spying, false intelligence, leaks, etc) is undermining the war on terror and national security. Theyre going to link everything to national security. This report about a 2002 terrorist attack that was just talked about for the first time today, is a blatant example of the administration trying to shift their focus back to the war on terror, probably their only safe subject these days. That is, until someone asks where Osama's hanging out...
February 10, 200620 yr ya cause if you arent with us you are going against national security. i absolutely love the logic they use for everything in this administration. its just simply baffling most of the time. :lol
February 10, 200620 yr If this is true, where the administration basically got revenge on a former administration official for not going along with their plans, it seems almost Mafia-like.
February 10, 200620 yr wow.... i missed this earlier. hold on to your hats gentlemen, things are gonna get bumpy.
February 10, 200620 yr Well, Cheney does owe his political career to Rumsfeld so I'd be surprised if this weren't at least partially true. However, I doubt anything meaningful sticks.
