February 14, 200620 yr http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/13851127.htm I told him the Chiefs need one playmaker to go along with Jared Allen. If Law signs for a reasonable price, the Chiefs could address their other shortcomings. So what kind of guaranteed, bonus money is Law looking for? ?I?d say around $10 million,? he said. ?There are a lot of teams interested. Miami is talking about getting Steve McNair down there, and if the Dolphins get a quarterback, they?re a real contender for the Super Bowl. That?s what it?s all about for me right now. I need to win another title.? the guy is trying to convince him to go to KC. LoL. Instead he says he would consider to come to miami

February 14, 200620 yr I don't want Steve McNair. He's old and is a lateral move from Frerotte at this point. If this were 1999, I'd be all over McNair, but it's not.
February 14, 200620 yr If anyone actually watched the Pro Bowl wtf was he doing there? It was painful to watch him play. I would really love the addition of Law but I agree McNair is past his time. Its time for a younger QB to be groomed into the next QB of the future.

Even though they were a good team I seem to remember Kyle Orton having a horrible season. Or just pick any starting QB from the 49ers. sh*t one could make the arguement that he was even better then Brett Favre this year. Gus was actually pretty damn serviceable when healthy. Lets not get crazy here.
February 14, 200620 yr I'd rather have McNair over Frerotte, right now knowing they both are what they are. Frerotte is horrible. 28th in the league in QB rating. McNair had both a higher QB rating and more passing yards last year than Frerotte. Yes please.
February 14, 200620 yr Author The situation with McNair is this guys. He is owed a roster bonus of around 40+ million. No way they will pay it and they will cut him. Either A drafting a QB at the number 3 slot and resigning McNair to let Volek walk or B working with Volek for the year and drafting someone to work behind him. If he is cut I dont know if he wouldnt just resign or retire (like he has mentioned in the past). He is a heck of a player if healthy and he has 2-3 more years in him if he gets healthy. He would be good wit ha solid line and running game. Which we honestly do have (not a great line but 5th least sacks and 2 RB over 4.5 ypc). I dont know if he would sign with us but it has been rumored before. Personally I would take him over a 6 million a year Gus Ferrotte

Alex Smith was a rookie with literally no offensive help. Not a former rushing champ and a #2 overall NFL Draft selection in the backfield. Not a former pro-bowl caliber WR (Booker), pro-bowl caliber TE (McMichaels) and current pro-bowl WR (chambers) to throw to either. So before you say "lets not get too crazy", try and name me someone Gus was clearly better than who was not a rookie. Face the facts, Gus sucks.

(miami running backs are always good it seems ). As for one guy Gus was better then I would say Brett Farve. But, I am on your side in the debate, as 6 million it soo much for gus

So before you say "lets not get too crazy", try and name me someone Gus was clearly better than who was not a rookie. Face the facts, Gus sucks. Rookie or not you said worst in teh league. That includes rookies. Look im not saying Gus is the cure all especially at his salary number but he def wasnt the worst. Sorry but a QB who can lead a team to a 9-7 record and 6 wins a row has some pretty good skill in my book. Better then Favre this year. Look I think we all agree a QB change is needed in Miami but would I be against Gus having another year? No but only if he took a cut. On that note I do not see Saban being satisfied with Gus as the starter next year. He def is not the worst solution in the NFL.
February 14, 200620 yr Well I will not count Orton because he is not Chicago's real QB. I thought you would have used your head enough to realize I was not talking about someone in their rookie year since it is common knowledge rookie QBs generally struggle in the NFL. However, since you are going to be an ass on the subject, then lets be realistic and you should be willing to admitt that once Alex Smith matures into a veteran he will almost certainly be much better than Gus. Alex and Gus are not in the same equation, they are at two different places in their career. So now I will say this to clarify my statement and avoid you coping out: Gus was the worst starting veteran QB in the NFL last year. Prove me wrong.
February 14, 200620 yr I used my head enough to realize that you said the worst QB in the league which last time I checked included rookies. Last time I checked there was this lil rookie named Ben Rothelisberger who had an incredible first season. So your rookie's do not count arguement does not hold any water. I am being an ass about the subject? I am simply trying to have a constructive conversation about the topic at hand. You are assuming too much from what I type. Who said I wasnt willing to admit that rookie QB's will flourish into top players? Cop out? Do you really think I want Gus back if something else is available? HAH. Yeah right. Ease up man. Im not trying to take a shot at you. You should learn how to talk to people without trying to belittle them. Some people take things too personally on here.
February 14, 200620 yr Author dont wanna get into the middle of the arguement but here is a QB Gus outplayed to name one at least in my eyes. According to TO he would of been undefeated with him Brett Farve 20 TD 3881 yrds 29 INT 7 fumbles Lost 70.9% QBR Gus Ferrotte 18TD 2996 yrds 13 INT 3 Fumble Lost 71.9% QBR Steve McNair 16TD 3161 yrds 11 INT 4 fumble Lost 82.4% QBR I think you could say Gus outplayed Brett. Brett had more yards but his team was behind a lot and had hardly any offense rushing the ball. Brett had 2 more tds But 20 More Turn overs then Gus had. :whistle I will say this gus isnt worth 6 million a year, if he takes a pay cut I am happy with him. But I will take McNair over him in a heartbeat

Remember as you said with Brett and Steve alot of those numbers are just garbage stats when they are tying to play catchup against every teams prevent defense. Gus actually led his team to a 9-7 record which speaks volumes above Brett's and Steve's seasons.

Also their running game wasnt very good to assist them either this year. I dont mind gus back if it is for the right price. But would you honestly pay Gus Ferotte more money then Zach Thomas? He needs to take a 2-3 million paycut. Nowhere else he goes does he start honestly.

Lets get real.

I think its a common denominator that all Phins fans wouldnt mind having Gus back at the right price. If he cannot take a pay cut then he needs to pack his bags. The bottomline is we all know the Phins are only heading in the right direction and our offseason should be one of the more interesting in teh league. Do I think we are any worse off with Gus? No. Do I think we could be that much better without him and with possibly McNair? Yes. Your point about the talent surrounding teh QB proves that. I'd love to see what McNair could do given the chance in our system.

Lets get real. Noone said that. But we all agree it does have to do with the talent surrounding the QB. You need to do a bit better reading b/c we are not arguing that point. The point you were trying to make was who was a worse QB last year. And clearly, regardless of who was surrounding him, Gus was not the worse QB. If you want to take into account that he had better talent around him then Brett and Steve, then yes he was the worst. The players around Gus made him that much better. Thats the whole point of the team concept. That wasnt the point YOU were trying to make. I said Gus was the worst starting QB in the NFL last year and at the end of your little statement where you said " If you want to take into account that he had better talent around him then Brett and Steve, then yes he was the worst," shows how ignorant you are being and that I am correct in my assertion. Since we are talking about bringing a QB TO MIAMI, then you have to say who would be better with this talent and you have admitted that I am correct. Thanks. Ahh so now there is an exception once I disprove your arguement. Meh im done arguing with you dude. This is rediculous. First of all, the word is RIDICULOUS. Second, what did you disprove? You showed that not only cant you spell, you have no reading comprehension either. When someone says "generally rookies QBs are known to strugge", that would imply that there are exceptions to the rule and sometimes a rookie QB will come in and play well but that is not the norm, therefore they would be the EXCEPTION. Clear enough for you or do I have to break out the dictionary next?
