February 22, 200620 yr Reggie Wayne - WR - Colts Colts and Reggie Wayne have agreed to a six-year deal worth nearly $40 million, with $13.5 million in bonus money. Wayne, Marvin Harrison, and Brandon Stokley are all signed long-term, so the Colts passing game will maintain incredible consistency. Wayne and Harrison have split production evenly the last two years, a trend we expect to continue. Feb. 22 - 3:52 pm et Source: FoxSports.com meh. needs more Edge :-p
February 23, 200620 yr Yeah, this is stupid. Wayne won't be able to fill Harrison's shoes when he retires, so they're still going to be looking for a #1 WR down the road anyway while they pay Wayne like a #1. Should have signed a guy like Antonio Bryant for much less money but for somewhat similar production in that offense.
February 23, 200620 yr I think that if Wayne is given the amount of passes towards him that a number one reciever gets than he would be well worth the deal. This is an obvious sign that they wont even go after edge leaving him a free agent any thoughts on who is going after him. i would think minesotta, Jacksonville, dallas. ?????

Meh it's a good signing for the next 3 years...after that they can just cut him at little cost

Meh it's a good signing for the next 3 years...after that they can just cut him at little cost I didn't read about how his contract is structured, but if it's got some kind of huge bonus after 3 years that he'll never see (leading to a restructuring of the contract or release of Wayne) then I guess it's a little different. If true it's not quite as bad, though I still maintain they could have found cheaper options with similar production and addressed other areas of need. The Colts didn't need to pay this much money to a #2 WR.
February 23, 200620 yr I think they will end up fine and this keeps peyton's fantasy value up. Now I think they will be looking to draft a RB at the end of the round or perhaps move up to pounc one. Plus they need to sign June and a few others that are FA's.
