February 26, 200620 yr I didn't even know he was a free agent... http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_r...t=.jsp&c_id=bal
February 26, 200620 yr Makes you wonder why they gave a three-year deal to Encarnacion when you can get similar production here.
February 26, 200620 yr It's a pretty nice signing for the O's. The Yard is a good place for players to resurrect themselves offensively.
February 26, 200620 yr Sorry... it's the Orioles...not Cards... Just corrected the title... And Jeff Conine sees his chances for P.T. take another hit. I'm sure if he had a do-over he'd probably have re-upped.
February 26, 200620 yr This guy showed great power numbers back in his Astros days which are so far away. I wish him the best, and I agree that the Yard is the palce for him to start swinging that bat well again.

Maybe not at one position, but between 1b and the OF. But with Millar, Javy Lopez playing a lot at 1b, and now Hidalgo... I wonder how much playing time he'll actually get.
February 27, 200620 yr This is a guy who should have been signed by some team like the Cubs, who could have used a talented OF. This guy really didn't put up that bad of numbers last year, considering the number of Ab's he got.

Hidalgo wouldnt have a chance to start (unless someone went down) edit: I see you are a Cubs fan.... so nevermind lol

February 27, 200620 yr i was kinda hoping the Marlins would take a look at this guy in spring training......
February 28, 200620 yr I'd rather have Hidalgo than Jones. I've never been too impressed with Jones, and I'd rather a has been than a never was cause he would have come much cheaper.
