The Eagles will have to wait a few more days, but it appears as if their first big free-agent signing of the off-season is going to be LeCharles Bentley, the Pro Bowl center from the New Orleans Saints.

According to a source close to the center, Bentley's interest in joining the Eagles is so strong that only the delay in the free-agency period prevented the move from happening today.

Free-agent signings were supposed to start today, but the NFL moved the date back to Monday in the slim hope that it can still negotiate an extension of the collective bargaining agreement with the players' union.

 

It's nice to not be cutting anyone.....Perfect Eagles offseason nets them Witherspoon, Bentley, Randle El or Jurevicius and LenDale White....

I love how some players can sign minutes after the opening of free agency yet questions of tampering never seem to arise.

 

This will be a good signing for the Eagles if/when it goes down

Rumors from Phillyburbs.com have the Eagles signing Jeff Garcia and Shawn Barber and waiving Mike McMahon and Koy Detmer.....TO and Garcia will be teammates for one day...heheh

Bentley's future unclear

Bentley denied a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer claiming he is headed to the Eagles as soon as the free-agent signing period begins, but he did make clear that he is ready to change teams, as he is no longer happy in New Orleans.

 

"It was just a lot of things that I didn't like," Bentley told The Times-Picayune. "But in any relationship, nothing goes 100 percent right all the time.

 

Although slightly injury prone (he missed time due to injury in three of four seasons), Bentley has established himself as one of the top offensive linemen in the league. The Saints elected not to place the franchise tag on Bentley and are not trying to sign him to a long-term deal.

 

The Eagles are expected to be one his top suitors.

I still expect him in cleveland honestly.

 

But there is a long list of suitors for him including philly, miami, denver, detriot, cleveland.. He is from Cleveland and has spoken many times how much he loves it there and wants to play for his folks. Take it over leave it for what that is worth.
