March 11, 200620 yr I personally dont mind the clean shaven look, and the look of professionalism that comes with it. Not many people had that much facial hair anyway, and the ones who had it are gone(Big Tex, The AJ, and Seabass). I dont see what the big deal is?
March 11, 200620 yr Lame column. Reads like a website post, and I second Ramp's YAAAWN. Girardi's got a no facial hair policy? :o Scandalous! Joe Maddon (new Rays coach), is a complete 180 degree opposite from Joey Pitbull. Maddon is a guy who is more concerned what happens on the field than what is growing on a person's face. Just watching him at the Naimoli Complex, you see a guy who knows baseball but also knows how to keep things loose. Something tells me that over in Jupiter, the opposite is true. Is it a coincidence that after Girardi was named manager that Josh Beckett (beard) and Mike Lowell (goatee) were traded? I was going to respond to the writer but after reading that I should shut my mouth. This guy's a friggin' genius. :lol :jackass
March 12, 200620 yr I hate Girardi's policy, but this guy's just taking it way too far and concentrating on pointless b.s.
March 13, 200620 yr Author Just jealous because Joe G. chose Marlins over Rays. People seem to forget that before the 2004 season, it was a toss-up between Maddon and Terry Francona for the Sox job. And I know that Maddon could have gotten the same results with my boys. I'm not a Rays fan, but I'd feel Ok having a beer with Maddon. Now Joey Pitbull..he'd probably have me whacked. But from I've seen, Maddon is making camp fun. Would Girardi be wearing a Venezuelan cap for Cabrera or a Team USA cap/shirt for Willis? Heck no. It's Vern Rapp and the 1977 Cardinals all over again.

Al Hrabosky & Vern Rapp all over again. Will the press have ti be clean shaven as well?

With Vern Rapp and Al Hrabosky you had a manager dealing with a prissy reliever who couldn't deal with having his ridiculous Fu Manchu moustache shaved off because of the blow it would be to his psyche. With Girardi you have a manager dealing with rookies who haven't played long enough to develop ridiculous notions like this and are rather more concerned with making the team and getting PT. No Mad Hungarians on the Marlins. If anyone was going to complain, I guess it would be Stokes who also sported a Fu Manchu... which he has shaved off. I haven't read about him complaining one bit. Al "The Mad Hungarian" Hrabosky:
March 13, 200620 yr Author Would be interesting to see how long Girardi would last if Charlie Finley owned the Marlins. If they have a reunion of the '97 team, will they have to shave as well?
