March 14, 200620 yr Not sure if Olsen's still pitching but the Nats have added 3 more runs and now lead 5-0. *edit, yep here's the scoring* Olsen gave up a walk, RBI double, and a single. Tankersley relieved him, then balked in a run & allowed an RBI single. ----- Meanwhile in Viera, Jose Garcia comes out of the pen & gets a 1-2-3 fifth inning. Ricky Nolasco's now thrown 7 scoreless innings in the spring. A dark horse for the starting rotation perhaps? :mischief2 Could be pushing Olsen out the door with his performance this Spring... :mischief2 :pray :mischief dont look now but Eric Reed is hitting .304... Edit: just went down to .292 after his last ab. .280 now :mischief
March 14, 200620 yr Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is Olsen's first bad outing of the spring, correct?
March 14, 200620 yr So how can Olsen be pushing himself out of a rotation spot with one bad start, while Dontrelle Willis is getting knocked around by AAA talent in team Canada and Korea and Moehler can't execute with runners on base? Just asking...

March 14, 200620 yr Well you have to be in the rotation first before you can pitch your way out of it.... but if Malman meant that they'd be more open to dealing him after seeing the success of some of the other pitchers, then sure I gues that could factor into it. Although it's way too early to judge. My original comment was that Ricky Nolasco could be a dark horse to make the rotation, although I think it's a very long shot. Olsen's had 3 appearances, one's been poor. He'll be fine. One thing he was doing tons of was throwing strikes.
March 14, 200620 yr Author I didnt start this thread lol you did after i got done making it. :cool but why would you do that? oh well, Ill just change the title

Just asking... I'd hardly call Canada and Korea's lineups AAA. Canada has the talent to make a huge run in 2009 once it goes from potential to developed, and Korea's offense while not hitting everything out of the park (save for el mago del bate Seung-Yeop Lee and five homers in five games) executes almost flawlessly and can actually do things that the other lineups cannot. They might not put the most runs on the board or hit the ball the longest, but they've shown they perform the best out of all of the lineups in the tournament. Back on point, Olsen has had one bad outing. He'll be fine.
March 15, 200620 yr I think its more like players like Johnson and Nolasco pitching themselves into the rotation.
March 15, 200620 yr I think its more like players like Johnson and Nolasco pitching themselves into the rotation. Exactly...it's not what Olsen has or hasn't done. It's what Nolasco & Johnson are doing...thus making Olsen expendable. Willis Moe Vargas Johnson Nolasco :mischief2

March 15, 200620 yr In all honesty I'd wish they would just dump Moehler...I suppose he'll be history by the All-Star break. In any case, he's a number five starter as best. I'd rather give Mitre the ball every fifth day instead. :confused Ideally...I'd love to see - Willis Vargas Johnson Olsen Nolasco :notworthy
