September 16, 200323 yr Author i hope Lou is still alive by 2010 the way that organization is run. their on the right track
September 16, 200323 yr TB is developing some nice players and their system is looking nice. If they add Sheff in the off-season they might finish at .500 next year. Remember they have a very difficult division.
September 16, 200323 yr i am a big TB hater these days because i had a friend that worked for the team and he got canned so Lou could bring in "his" people. but i will admit they have some top-O-the line prospects and young major leaguers.
September 17, 200323 yr Man, I love this new lineup Watch: Pudge will get a double to lead off the 3rd and DLEE will drive him in! Conine can't do that!
September 17, 200323 yr The Old Man's lineup change concerns me. Let's see, as a manager you win 7 of the last 8 and because you get drubbed one game you change the lineup around? Sounds a little too reactionary to me. I would of thought Jack had enough perspective and experience to realize this is only one game. Besides, it doesn't matter who bats where when your staff gives up 2 touchdowns. If Jack keeps on leaving his starters in when it is readily apparent to everone that they are getting shelled and aren't "on" it won't matter what the lineup is. I'm still ticked off that he left Pavano in to bat in the 4th yesterday.
September 17, 200323 yr I didn't see much of a problem with it Fillet... If anyone ahead of him had gotten on, McKeon was set to pinch-hit. Pierre was on deck and not likely to drive in a run anyway. Gotta get more than 4 innings out of your starter. & truth be told, he pitched a little better after that first inning & probably wouldn't have given up another run if Enc catches that ball at the track. The hitting was the problem yesterday. The Phills could've scored only 1 run off Pavs & still won the game.
September 17, 200323 yr Ya because it doesnt score runs or keep them from scoring. so true. so true. Yah, we've won with Conine in the lineup. But he sure aint been the cause. The cause has been pitching, and people like Cabrera and LEE stepping up. Not Conine. That is for sure.
September 17, 200323 yr Without citing specific examples, I can recall instances in the past when McKeon has left starters in too long. It was obvious that Pavano was getting shelled. Even the outs he got were, for the most part, loud and hit hard. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Pavano was not long for the game. With this offense and the miserable production I just hate to see McKeon give up an out by letting a struggling P take his sloppy .058 average up to the plate.
September 17, 200323 yr Moving Lee up is a big mistake. He was going well where he was at and people remeber how bad he was battign third ealier?Yes,I know he is hitting now but Derreck Lee is extremely streaky player.Conine might be slumping but is only a matter of time for him start producing.I just hope Derreck doesn't start going on one of his slumps.
September 17, 200323 yr well, we arent gonna score less runs than yesterday. If we score 1 run, it'll be an improvement.
September 17, 200323 yr The only problem with Lee (other than I hate him) is that he's not a contact hitter. If a change were to be made, I would of liked to see someone in the 4 slot with some ability to make contact - (hit and run possibilities, etc). I'm having nightmares of Frenchy and Luis going 3 for 4 each and getting stranded when D. Lee impersonates a human fan and screws himself into the ground 3 times. I guess I'll fear the D. Lee strikeout, and pray for the D. Lee gappers.
September 17, 200323 yr Cabs would have been a better choice.Cabs is rbi machine with runners on scoring position.
September 17, 200323 yr sweet, so the bottom of our order can be Lee, Conine, A-Gon? Awesome. umm why not? Put the guy who producing the most when runner are on scoring position and Lee stays where he is at.Conine can be move up in the batting order when he is out the slump.
September 17, 200323 yr Well, with Canine hitting 4th, our 5,6,7 were awesome. If we don't score tonight our season is over.
September 17, 200323 yr Author If we don't score tonight our season is over not true there are plenty game left
