May 2, 200620 yr I don't know if I should get my hopes up, but other than that, it's great to finally hear something really positive about the Fish right now. I agree.. Atleast it is something positive.
May 2, 200620 yr Dear Mr. Longhorns: Your parents obviously never taught you to be a gracious loser. Now, please, run along and find some other board to troll. Go elsewhere with the wonders of San Antonio's River Walk, the Alamo and the new Toyota plant. Did I leave any of the attractions out? You see, the Marlins have obviously decided to "cut bait" as you Texans put it. Good luck trying to pry away a team from someone else. But for now, please go away. Thank you very much. Be nice please just as he should be. If he wishes to become a fan of the team that isnt a problem at all. Everyone has the right to be a marlins fan no matter where they play. Hopefully down here it will be though. it is good news over all. I have no problem being nice. But Mr. Longhorns became a "Marlins fan" in April of this year when the San Antonio relocation talks started heating up. An frankly, after going to the Marlins games and having to deal "nicely" with the obnoxious fans from other teams, my "niceness" toward them is running out. Its true that it is everyone's right to come here and post. But if they come here to talk trash it is also my right to call them on it. Am I right? I totally understand your feeling everytime the stinking mets or jets are in town I feel the same. But If he became a fish fan in april and ends up staying one even though they are staying, I am kewl with that. You know? I am sure alot of fans from other parts of the country didnt start our like us that have been there since opening day. I still have my opening day programs at home from the fish and panthers (and away game as they started up in chicago hehe). But I totally understand the wanting to call them on it. Just always been one for the bigger man personally Still perhaps he will come around and stay a fish fan for us all you know bro?

May 2, 200620 yr IMO, i can see if they get this deal done within the next month, construction could start by the end of the year and you could see opening day at the new ballpark by opening day in 2009....don't have anything to back that up but that is what i believe...the marlins have options from now til 2010 at Dolphin Stadium, doesn't mean they have to use all their options at the stadium

I saw a few estimates that said a stadium could be built in 24-27 months. The 2010 date I gave was based on county memos. Hell, if it is done for the 2009 season we may be seeing some WBC baseball in La Ciudad Que Progresa. :mischief

Workers can work all year around. We only have hurricane season but a hurricane is not guaranteed to hit in Miami. So this stadium might take less time to build *hopes*. Unless something unexpected comes along.
May 2, 200620 yr 2009 seems right. The Cards started building their new stadium in Jan. 2004. They had most of it built then knocked down the old stadium in November of 2005 and finished the rest in months for the 2006 season.
May 2, 200620 yr i am looking forward to see any news come out next week or mon the 15 because that day that san antonio put dead line too marlins i think that when we know what going on with hialeah and marlins

Even my skeptical butt is twitching with excitement over this :lol Just say this deal gets done soon, when do you think we will start *building* the stadium? How long does it usually take? 3 years? Well they HAVE to get it done before the 2010 season. Huizenga has said NO MORE BASEBALL in Dolphin Stadium after 2009. Unless something unexpected comes along. Well we went 27 years WITHOUT a hurricane, and are making up for lost time the last couple of years. Law of averages says we should be free & clear for the next couple -- just right for getting the stadium done :thumbup

May 3, 200620 yr their no announcement schedule on that day but that day of San Antonio deadline and jerry the host of sport show feel like some thing might be issue by marlins and city on that day Well this interesting tidbit in the Herald this morning : Posted on Wed, May. 03, 2006email thisprint this ROUNDUP Marlins to view sitesBY BARRY JACKSON bjackson@MiamiHerald.com Three Marlins officials will be in San Antonio today looking at potential stadium sites, but the Marlins and Miami-Dade County officials remain hopeful a ballpark deal can be completed locally. Claude Delorme, the Marlins' senior vice president/stadium development, and two others -- but not president David Samson -- are expected to join Bexar County (San Antonio) Judge Nelson Wolff on the tour. Samson said the meeting was ``scheduled four weeks ago, and we have continued to tell San Antonio that South Florida is our first choice. We are pleased with the very recent progress that has been made with Miami-Dade County and the city of Hialeah.'' Wolff has given the Marlins a May 15 deadline to accept his offer to ask voters to extend a hotel and car rental tax to help finance a stadium. Under the plan being discussed locally, property tax money from a yet-to-be-developed industrial park area in Hialeah would be used to help bridge a $100 million stadium funding gap. But it hasn't been determined how much that idea would raise. If the idea is eventually taken to the Miami-Dade County commission, it would require approval of at least seven of the 13 commissioners. Doesn't sound all bad, but doesn't sound as good as I would like.
