Hermida Update

Featured Replies

News: Marlins right fielder Jeremy Hermida said his sore right hip flexor felt better when he did some light running Tuesday, but there is no target date for his return from the disabled list. When Hermida suffered the injury on April 11, the Marlins had hoped he could return the following week, a projection that has been adjusted every week.

The latest targeted return date had been this weekend in Pittsburgh, but manager Joe Girardi on Tuesday wasn't ready to say whether that's likely. "He'll be here when he gets here, when he's ready," Girardi said. "We'll see where he is (with his progress) Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I'm not even going to take a guess."

I dont want to rush him back, Joe is right, but DAMN I wish we had his bat in the lineup!

In Marlins On Deck yesterday, Minervini indicated the series in Atlanta May 15-18 is when we may see Hermida playing again (though he didn't sound too optimistic to me). He also said Hermida is not going to start another rehab assignment until he can handle it.

Don't rush him at all. Who cares at this point if we do or don't have him in the lineup. This season is shot. We have to look for his bat in the lineup for the next couple of years, and a rush job could jeopardize his health for years to come.
