Many of the kids who lived there now have to walk 20 minutes away to a park that is nowhere near their homes. For many of the kids in the Bronx, this park was their second home...and now it is gone because the Yankees want to build their billion-dollar plus stadium about 1000 feet from their existing home. They even interviewed mayor Bloomberg about it, and he basically said "I don't give a damn". Bloomberg of course is more interested in the allmighty dollar than he is the well-being of his citizens. I honestly don't understand why the Yankees are building this new stadium in the first place, but why couldn't they have just knocked down the existing building and built the new Yankee Stadium from scratch? They could have played their home games at Shea Stadium during construction... Pretty silly move IMO on the Yankees part, and even more on Bloombergs part.

December 4, 200817 yr unbelievable.... the field looks so small though. I think its because basically once the seats end you have huge videoboards/advertisements filling in the rest. It closes it all in. Beautiful though.

December 6, 200817 yr TV screens are great, it is a beautiful redo of Yankee Stadium, but I love Citifield. It reminds me of a newer and nice Camden Yards, which is a great field. Camden is beautiful to see in person and I am excited to see a game at Shea and see how it compares.
