June 19, 200620 yr With Kevin Youkilis firmly ensconced at first base, playing time has been tough to come by for veteran first baseman J.T. Snow. It's going to be even tougher now. The Sox designated Snow for assignment before today's game, clearing a roster spot for tonight's starter, 6-foot-8 righthander Kyle Snyder. In just 44 at-bats, Snow was hitting .205 with no homers and 4 RBIs. The Sox have 10 days to either trade him or put him on waivers. "I think you get mixed emotions because of the way [Kevin Youkilis] has taken this job and made it his job," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. "I think J.T. was certainly hoping for more at-bats when he came in here and that's not the case and won't be or wouldn't be, so I think he's probably got some mixed emotions, but he was really professional about it." Red Sox GM Theo Epstein, who said to expect more roster moves in the next 24 hours, did leave the door open for Snow's return if no team puts a waiver claim in on. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...designated.html
June 19, 200620 yr Wasn't surprised. Snow wanted out..and I looked at the Sox site earlier in the day and saw that the Sox still hadn't put Snyder on the 25 man. I'm wondering what moves Theo might make... :whistle
June 20, 200620 yr Like Theo said...the door will be open for him to return to the Sox. I could see him going to the PawSox and being a player-coach...
June 20, 200620 yr Who do you think is willing to pick him up? :mischief2 I would love for the Giants to bring him back. Niekro has been hurt a lot this year and Sweeney was supposed to be a big bat off the bench, but has been forced to play a lot of 1b... Let's bring J.T back and let him retire a Giant !!
