July 6, 200620 yr I agree. I am sick of reading the same thing over and over. But that's the media for ya, they focus on the negatives instead of the positives. :thumbdown The only thing that bothers me about the article is that others have written about the exact same thing numerous times. Hey, our attendance isn't good. We know. Do we really need another article telling us this? Not really. The writer should focus more on how we ended a Red Sox winning streak than how many people showed up to the game. Just my opinion.
July 6, 200620 yr I like Greg Cote generally and appreciate his writing skills but I would take him to task for the same sin I see committed by virtually the media, print, broadcast, all of them, which is to tell fans the team sucks and don't bother with them (the 2006 Marlins) for seven months and then complain no one is coming out. People are coming out, albeit not in the numbers we'd like to see and some of really low attendance games seem to be the ones they love to focus on, but when a Jimmy Cefalo in front of an audience that covers all of South Florida, night after night refers to the team as "the AAA Marlins", when Steve Shapiro rips the Fish nightly day in day out or actually ignores them completely, the last people who should be complaining about attendance are the guys who encouraged it in the first place.
