August 16, 200620 yr I just bought the album today. So far, I am loving it. It's 2 discs. This album is way different than what's out there right now. It's jazzy with a mix of pop/R&B. If anyone has a chance, and you like Christina, this is a must buy! The pictures in the booklet are really nice. I like Christina's new 40's/50's glamour girl look. And another plus, the booklet contains lyrics to all the tracks!
August 17, 200620 yr Bought it today and just finished listening to it. Sure, Christina could SANG, but tends to over-do it at times and lacks soul. The first disc sounds much like Stripped which was somewhat of a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, Disc 1 is great, but I was expecting more of an old school bluesy/jazz feel to it... just sounds like old Christina lightly inspired by both mentioned genres. That's where disc 2 comes in... I LOVE, and I mean LOVE disc 2. Still lacking some "soul", this disc was more of what I was expecting in the first place. "I Got Trouble" (one of my favorites) sounds like a straight up vinyl record. "Nasty Naughty Boy" has a burlesque feel to it. Sassy and sultry, girl absolutely KILLS this song. "Save Me From Myself"- one word- beautiful... i've never heard her voice sound as soft, pure, and elegant as this before. After just one take, those are the songs that stand out. "Ain't No Other Man" is actually my least favorite song on the album (never really liked it in the first place), bad choice for a first single and doesn't portray what this album has to offer... just my opinion. It's nice to see Christina take a different route and develop as an artist, though. This CD is a nice relief from all the crap out right now. I give it 4 1/2 stars out of 5 with room for improvement. I'm sure it'll grow even more on me as time goes by. This album is definitely worth your money. :thumbup
