October 22, 200620 yr David Murphy 's name was very close to having been the centerpiece of a trade at the deadline this season. I thought it was the FO perception before they made a trade just to make a trade to wait to the off-season and weigh all their options. I wonder if his name is still on the Marlin's radar. Then I also wonder why. http://www.soxprospects.com/players/murphy-david.htm #60 David Murphy Boston Red Sox | Outfield Age: 25 Born: October 18, 1981 Resides: Spring, TX Height: 6-3 Weight: 195 Bats: Left Throws: Left Drafted: 1st Round, 2003 How Acquired: Draft College: Baylor U. October 22, 200620 yr any idea what the trade would of been? He is blocked by Crisp and Ellisbury right now I believe whom are both better prospects so it couldnt be anything that great could it?
October 22, 200620 yr Eh. I'll pass on Murphy. He really doesnt strike me at the moment as anything more than Taveras, or even an in-house option.
October 22, 200620 yr any idea what the trade would of been? He is blocked by Crisp and Ellisbury right now I believe whom are both better prospects so it couldnt be anything that great could it? If I recall correctly, the rumor before the trade deadline was the Red Sox wanted Taylor Tankersley in a deal for Murphy.
October 23, 200620 yr rather have tankersly honestly then. He could someday be a nice setup/closer I agree. One of the last things we need to do right now is trade off our few cheap young talented MLB ready/proven relievers considering how weak our bullpen is overall. And his work as a setup man this season was not too shabby.
October 24, 200620 yr Murphy was going to be the centerpiece of a trade? My sentiments exactly...
