Well, that isn't a fair point because Nixon actually is a communist.:banghead

Well, if he met with Mao it's obvious he's a real communist, and not a "bobbob1313 being sarcastic communist".

So leaders can't meet with opposing leaders at all without being thrown on the other side of the political spectrum?

I honestly don't know what you are talking about. Like really, I'm trying to figure it out, and I can't. I was making a joke. Richard Nixon is very obviously not a communist, and I would never say so in any serious manner.

Gotta love W dipping back into the good ole boy system with his nomination of Gates.

It sure beats giving Wolfowitz the job.

the everlasting image ill have of rumsfeld in my head is him shaking hands with saddam hussein back in tha day...a little ironic...dont cha think?...of course the ever lasting image of bush is of him sitting down when he hears that the second plane hit

Yeah, Bush probably should've stood up right then and fought the terrorists with his bare hands.

And it's really not that odd for politicians to meet other politicians, regardless of their differences.

Funny how this is nobody's lasting image of Churchill, Stalin, or Roosevelt. And at least 2 of them governed nations in a state of almost war for 50 years.

did i somewhere suggest that bush should have fought the terrorists with his bare hands? yeah...no...i didnt...so dont put words in my mouth...but he should have done something other than just sit there...that choice could have very well cost americans their lives...and yes, im well aware that politicians meet all time despite varying levels of differences...but when this picture was taken...we were all allies against the axis of evil...and actually...when i think of churchill and fdr, i think of this photograph...

We were on Iraq's side during the Iraq-Iran war. :whistle thats an understatement...we practically fought/bought the war for iraq...and five years later, we were ourselves at war with iraq

The Iran/Iraq conflict, and the problems with Iraq shortly afterward, reminded me of the USSR being our allies in WWII. Much like the Iraqis, it didn't take long before we had our sights on the USSR, and vice-versa. Things went sour less than two years after WWII. At least it took Saddam a little bit longer to mess up the region.

We brought the war for Iraq? So the terrorist attack on 9/11 should've just gone unnoticed?

Iraq was not involved in 9/11

I mean how many times must this be said?

JimmyJack is talking about the 1980's war with Iran, not this war. I think Florida Fish Fan is confused.
