DAVIE ? Atlanta Falcons rookie defensive back Nick Turnbull is set to become the first player Florida International University to appear in an NFL regular-season game.

Turnbull was promoted from Atlanta's practice squad today and is set to play on special teams in Sunday's game against Cleveland, Weston-based agent Rich De Luca said.

A graduate of Flanagan High, Turnbull signed with the Falcons in May as an undrafted rookie free agent. He is FIU's all-time leader in interceptions with 16.

this is really for the FIU alumni and us FIU students on this board

Wow! That's awesome!

That's him right there... #21.

He's a really cool guy. I wish him the best.

Woo woo

Went to my middle school and we were in the same year/classes. That means two people from Pines Middle school 1996 class are in pro sports: Mike Napoli and him. :thumbup

Our team is still a disgrace. They better show some backbone at least against FAU.

Tell me about it. It's so hard to watch. I still love them, though. Go Golden Panthers!
