Sports Story of the Year

Featured Replies

I was talking to the host of my radio show and we were trying to decide what it was for the whole country. Don't give me the Heat because I really don't think anyone else gave a crap. Steroids really didn't dominate like last year and there were no real controversies so i came up with the only story that i thought reunited the country for the most part.....George Mason's cinderella run to the final 4.

Thoughts on your sports story of the year?

just tryin to stoke a debate but Mason's run was over like a month and that was one day in the year....not sayin your wrong but I don't know.

GM was a cinderella story no doubt...However they are a college basketball team at the highest level (1A). They are expected to compete...and while their run was very unexpected, it's not unheard of.

Now an autistic kid coming off the bench to drain threes--you don't see that everyday. He defied a lot of stereotypes and logic that day.

the ones that stick out in my mind are team USA losing to Greece at the World Championships, team Cuba making it to the final of the WBC playing against major league talent and the BCS (again).

Even though their story has yet to be finished, I'd say the resurgence of the Saints.

During my lifetime that team has always been a bottom-dwelling sh*thole and now they're back and better than ever. But, that's the only current one. You take that Atlanta home game into the equation and if this team finds success in the post-season they are clearly the Cinderella story of the NFL this year.

No way.

The Saints have only had a losing record twice since 2000. With the exception of last year, they've been pretty decent for awhile now.

The resurgence of the Bungles fits that description much better, though it's been going on for a couple years now.

I agree it should be the autistic kid. Why the hell would you think anyone would say the Heat were the story of the year?

That doesn't make any sense. Considering they're 8-5 and should have won the division but played like doodoo from game 4 on.

Bengals might have been in contention last year, but not this year.

The Steelers sucking after their year of destiny could definitely be up there.

How about the run the Steelers made?

that was the first time a 6th seed has ever won the championship.

Football returning to New Orleans was the story of the year for me.
