Dusty Baker apparently thinks that the Marlins' currrent success is due to Dombrowski. While I would agree to a point, this team is going nowhere without the moves Beinfest made. For proof, look over the last 3 years. Willis (Beinfest), Pudge (Beinfest), Pierre (Beinfest), Conine (Beinfest)...the list goes on (Fox, Urbina, etc.). But it is nice that Dusty would slight the current ownership...

''I think what's going on with the Marlins really is the job that Dave Dombrowski did with putting most of the team together,'' Baker said. ``He really gets the credit for it. I just want to commend him and the Marlins for rebuilding teams.''

Dave Dombrowki has really shown his value in Detroit. Great job there Dave, keep up the good work. He is man totally without any scrupples or integrity, he so wanted to be Marlins president that he sold his soul to the devil (and we know who that is) and did his bidding, leaving the south florida fans with nothing. For every player he acquired that are part of the Marlins success there are three that turned out to be absolutely worthless acquisitions.

I don't think that's fair.

Dombrowski dismantled this team because he was ordered to by his boss. He had two choices - do the best job he could or refuse and let somebody else do it.

With the whole world knowing we were dumping talent, he still managed to get back Lowell, Beckett, Castro, Lee, Preston Wilson, Penny, Looper, and probably other players I can't think of off the top of my head.

He wasn't perfect when he made all those trades but think where this team would be without those guys. If he had stood up to Huizenga and quit, who would've been making our trades? Do you think they'd have done better? As bad as it's been, it would've been a whole lot worse without Dombrowski.

Beinfest deserves executive of the year for the job he's done but Dombrowski deserves some credit too.

do not doubt DD...

give him some time in TigerTown

I agree, Dombrowski did a good job, but most of the current parts that have come through, like jonny mentioned, were brought aboard by Beinfest.

C Fox one of the best post-season run acquisitions of all time?

C Fox one of the best post-season run acquisitions of all time?

So we're all a little guilty of exaggeration here Sham. May not have been THE BEST, but where would we have been without him? Let's face it, if you're in Vegas you want Admin B. standing next to you blowin' on those dice. It was a helluva move signing Fox.

Baker is somewhat right, Dombrowski did help build this team in a way, after he left. Dombrowski help us by trading Redman to us and trade Juan E. via Cin to Florida. Yep DD has help built this team even after he was gone.

Look here is how the prospect game works.....

Out of every 3 prospects you acquire via trades....you usually hope one of them pans out as a true major leaguer. Anything more is bonus.

Most of the trades Dave made, produced one legit major league ballplayer.

Dave did a good job in bringing in the prospects we acquired after 97. Beinfeist has taken the next step to transform this team into a playoff team.

As far as the Detroit situation, Dave has been there for what? 2 years. What did he have to work with exactly up in Detroit? Think about that and then answer the question. Within 5 years the Tigers will at least be competitive.
