Dowdell, who was first tackled in the lane by a mob of teammates then bounced up and extended the ?Virginia Tech? on his jersey toward the Crazies, was stopped by Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski during the commotion.

?He told me I was too good of a player to be celebrating like that,? Dowdell said. ?But the way they beat us last year, they certainly celebrated. It?s hard to control your emotion at that point and it was impossible for me to hold my feelings inside.?

Do you think it's right for a coach to confront an opposing player for celebrating after a huge win like that? I certainly think not.

I don't think what he said was out of line, however I do think confronting an opposing player is.

I hope he told his team the same thing after they beat Va Tech on the half court shot last year.

coach k needs to spend more time on what his players do.

he is out of line, its not his place to tell an opposing player what they should or shouldnt be doing after winning a big game.

I think Coach K was taking issue with the player taunting the student body, which is pretty unneccesary...although, I guess there were times where you could say we deserved it.

I was kind of surprised at how much they were celebrating as well. I guess they really built themselves up for the game.

He might have said this to help out Vatechs image beacuse they havent been good in the past and the had that kid who kicked a guy in the face last year. Also he probally meant it as he thinks they will be good in the future and should expect to win games like that and wont need to celebrate. idk

I'm sure that's it.

I'm sure Leader K had the best intentions, but hes out of line telling other players how to celebrate, especially after how they reacted to beating Va Tech on a praire last year

LMAO....if there's a student body in america that deserves to be taunted it's you guys and Maryland....two of the nastiest student sections in America.

Once again FishFaninPA, you show your Duke hatred. We all know why UMD has a nasty fanbase, but please, tell me (other than the usual urban legend crap) why Duke students are so nasty.

PS: Juan Dixon was always treated with the upmost respect in Cameron, so don't give me this AIDS-taunt crap about him.

PPS: Popping your jersey on an opponent's court is NEVER called for. Coach K was on the money.

The student body has no discretion and attend the game as spectators. The players are in a professional organization and should have more etiquette than the students cheering for or against them.

If miami beat Duke, and I was there for the game I would rush the court happily :)

Screw duke. I understand their feelings as folks do the same about beating U of Miami in football. But gotta accept the good and bad, specially when a top 5 program always.

I wish we had gotten him to coach UM basketball :(

The Duke student section is probably one of the more respectful in the country, especially considering how rabid they are. There were times in the 80's where they crossed the line, but Coach K cracked down on the nasty stuff and it's been pretty clean for a while. I never once thought we crossed a line in my 4 years there, unless you think chanting "please don't eat me" to fat players is completely uncalled for. I would compare this to the Miami student section where they make barely any noise, but when they do, it's often so hate-filled and angry that I'm ashamed to be standing there.

So anyway to reiterate, the Crazies may be loud but they are NOT nasty, at least they weren't when I was there.

Worry about your own damn players...Or maybe about how stiff you look in those American Express commercials. Or wait, even better - go learn how to pronounce your last name.
