Here's a thought...

Now don't kill me, but I'm going to speak of next season.

This crazy idea just popped into my head, and don't hound me about "but we don't have the money" because this idea is assuming Loria can get a little extra cash.

Why not trade A-Gon istead of Lee? Put Cabrera at SS, Lowell at third, keep Lee at 1B and Conine in LF. I know that Loria would have to come up with extra cash, but with the loss of Pudge (even though I think Castro will put up equal stats) we're going to need all the offensive production we can get from every position, and Sea Bass just doesn't fit that description.

Thoughts?

Yea but the thing is gonzo is a free agent next year i think, and he's cheap he doesn't make 1/5 of wut derrek makes.

We only have 2 starters that are FA's, Luis and Pudge.

I'm thinking Luis is a lock to be re-signed, as is Lowell. Pudge is still gone.

Gonzalez is not a FA.

O actually i didn't wanna bring this up but im'a have to say it,i heard n/m.

I wonder if i should say wut i have in mind?

This is, after all, a forum.

A place to share your opinion(s).

Go right ahead.

Ok this is messed up,but the yankees are gonna get luis if we don't re-sign him next year.

what happens with Soriano?

I don't think that would happen. I think Luis is re-signing here, anyways.

But back to the topic at hand here.

Hey lets talk about this in the off-season,right now lets keep on winning and focusing on the playoffs!

Lee is making a whole lot more than Alex

Did you not read my first post?

We are disgaurding the money issue for a second.

Money is the main problem WildCard you can't disregard it.

Alex makes 1,700,000$ while Lee makes 4,520,000$ and If I'm not mistaken he gets a signifigant raise....We also have Conine to play first...Lee will be gone.

Even though the one that leaves will probably be lee, (because stokes will be ready in a couple of years) Encarnacion could also be considered, he's making $3.45 million compared to Lee's $4.52 million. Cabrera could play right field and conine stays in left.

I would rather keep Lee than Encarnacion.

Nice point.

Like I said, we have plenty of options.

Im kinda thinking Encarnacion is gonna have a Lowell-type breakout year next season

Lee, Sea Bass, V Nunez and Enc should go = $11 million.

Three starters?

I don't see A-Gon or Juan leaving.

Cabrera did one smart thing in right last night which was to NOT catch a foul ball he could easily gotten to with a man on third. The Kid is smart, but Conine has alot of experience in right too (with Baltimore).

I am of the belief if you handed The Kid the tools of ignorance and said "call a good game" he would, he can play anywhere and not embrrass himself or the team. I refuse to speculate about next year until our season is done (and boy do I have alot to say about next year's Marlins) but I believe The Kid gives us a wide range of options for 2004.

That could work if Lee wasn't getting a salary raise next year....Not sure of the amount but it ain't that small.

I don't see A-Gon or Juan leaving. I see DLee heading to the Rays, Rays anounced they were going to spend big this off-season.
