Posted April 4, 200718 yr Granted De Aza has been a revelation so far, we're still seriously lacking in the ML ready OF dept. Krynzel is a real Centerfielder with real speed and had a great spring with Arizona. Had De Aza not gone off, we'd all be screaming for this move. If De Aza reverts to his former career averages, we'll be sorry we didn't grab Krynzel. He's a former team USA player, and top prospect. I think we make the move. Thoughts? April 4, 200718 yr I wouldnt mind plucking him up and sending down someone else. He would at least give us some more depth in the OF.
April 4, 200718 yr Even with De Aza playing decently so far I still wish we'd made a bigger push for Dukes

April 4, 200718 yr What has impressed you most about him? His .231/.314/.359 line last year in AAA? I'd rather stick with De Aza and his potential. It would be different if we were talking about a big talent like Dukes or something, but we don't need more 25 year old 4th and 5th OFs. We already have Cody Ross and Borchard on the roster and Reed in AAA.
April 4, 200718 yr He's been out there for about a week I think and no one has jumped on him as of yet, which speak volumes about the guy. He had a good spring but otherwise has been unimpressive the rest of his career, although defensively I wouldn't dispute he can play the position pretty darn well. Even were we to sign him to a minor league contract, who would we displace to give him playing time, unless you want to relegate Reggie to the bench (which no doubt some would do) or turn him into a corner outfielder?

Hell no I was, I hope you understand, just postulating. I have no interest in signing the guy, not at any level. There are so many better options available to the Marlins, I would doubt he's even on their radar.
April 4, 200718 yr Author Fair enough. With our paucity of choices i thought he might be worth a look. Arizona is seriously stacked in the outfield on an organizational scale, so it's entirely possible they could let a gem slip away. (cough, dan uggla, cough)
April 4, 200718 yr except that Krynzel has never done anything in the minors to warrant him being on a major league roster
April 5, 200718 yr If he dosent sign with anyone It would be nice to have him in AAA just in case. Reggie can go back to AA. Wood can also be send down to clear a spot.

April 5, 200718 yr My bro-in law Dave played with him in the Brewers' system, that guy is FAST! He had some good seasons in the low minors. He has never really put it together at the upper levels, but did make it to the bigs briefly (twice). He K's too much for a guy without a ton of pop, isn't going to get onbase with any kind of reguarity. He might strengthen the AA squad, but i'm pretty sure he'd refuse that assignment.
