April 27, 200719 yr So after feeling like I was going to wind down about an hour or so ago and go to sleep after my evening, I just got a 'second wind' and am more or less literally awake. Man I hate that, anyone else ever have that uncontrollable awakeness even when you need sleep?

Man I hate that, anyone else ever have that uncontrollable awakeness even when you need sleep? Whenever I have to get up really early, I cant fall asleep until like 2am. Its just a mental thing I guess.
April 27, 200719 yr pretty much every night. I haven't been able to sleep before around 2 a.m. since high school. Figured it would go away once I got into the workplace & had to start waking up at 6 a.m., that my internal clock or whatever would adjust & I'd actually be able to fall asleep at a normal time. But nope, still usually about 2 o'clock.
April 27, 200719 yr Author I haved non-diagnosed/me not caring insomnia since I started college. I sleep like 4-5 hours on average and yet am never tired or fatigued. I don't show any visable signs of sleep deprevation either. *shrugs*
April 27, 200719 yr I can't wake up in the mornings. I have the damn clock radio on full volume and it will play for an hour and a half right next to my head before I wake up. My roommates tell me they heard what songs were playing from downstairs. I have been late to work like every day for the past two weeks. :confused

I think I could sleep through a tornado in the mornings.

April 27, 200719 yr Author I actually wish I could do that. I can sometimes on the weekends or when I've been up extremely late but I've been working out starting at 530 for the past 3 years and I probably shouldn't even set an alarm because my internal clock wakes me up like 1 or 2 minutes before the alarm nearly every day. Alexis is like you Dodge, she can sleep through a locomotive going past the bedroom.

When I was in high school there was a professor that only slept 3 hours a night. He said if he didnt get those 3 hours he would be very tired. However he trained himself to function on just those hours of sleep. He has seen like every movie that comes out since he gets almost 6 extra hours a day... In the long run its not healthy for you.
April 27, 200719 yr I only have trouble waking up. For example, today my alarm clock was sounding off from 6:00 AM to 6:32 AM. I'm only 6 feet away from it.

Mine goes for an average of an hour a day, and it's directly next to my head. I do not press the snooze. :confused I can't wake up in the mornings. I think I could sleep through a tornado in the mornings. Yeah, that's why I need to get married, I'm going to be teaching in a few years and I am going to have to get up at around 5AM on weekdays. Good Lord. I had my girlfriend stay the night one day last week and when the alarm went off it scared the living sh*t out of her. I didn't even budge. :lol
April 27, 200719 yr Author Jesus dude. :lol Do you live with anyone? I'd stab you in the neck. For those that use an alarm, don't use a CD by an artist you like, I used to play a CD as my alarm for like 6 months or so and I absolutely loathe that song/CD now and it got so bad where I would randomly hear the song throughout the week at random times. :lol :lol

My freakin cat goes nuts every morning because he wants me to turn off the music. I think you have a point about the music. I have mine on the classic rock station and 99% of the time they play songs I like, so when it starts playing at full blast, I'm still dreaming about doing random things and all of a sudden I'm like "Hey, I love the Doobie Brothers!" and I keep dreaming while listening to them. :lol
April 27, 200719 yr I never go to bed before Midnight anymore......and then every morning i get up and swear that I need to go to sleep earlier and yet i never do.... I usually go thru like 4 snoozes before i get up and go to work.....I wake up to sports radio.....
April 27, 200719 yr Mine goes for an average of an hour a day, and it's directly next to my head. I do not press the snooze. :confused I don't know what's worse, that - or in my case I bypass the snooze & just shut the alarm off yet have no memory of doing it. It's like I shut it off in my sleep. In my first job after college it was so bad I had to set up a highly advanced, extensive network of alarms. Here's a typical morning: 6:00 - watch alarm goes off. 6:15 - clock radio goes off, tuned to howard stern - I figured if something was funny it would get me up. 6:20 - 2nd alarm clock goes off which is across the room & forces me to get out of bed to shut it off. 6:30 - computer alarm goes off at high volume playing a random thrash metal song. Anthrax, Overkill, Megadeath, whatever. 6:35 - roommate breaks down my door & throws scalding hot coffee on my face. okay not really on the last one, but you get the idea.

Women, or aka the one woman I have consistently seen wake up over the past couple years, are so damn haggard when they wake up, its hillarious. A terrible, hoarse, deep voice, barely have eyes, huge ginormous hair, frowns. HAHA. Picturing it makes me laugh. I'm sure you have more or less witnessed the same thing. Besides growing 5 inches of hair on my face, I look lime I'm good to go in the morning. In my first job after college it was so bad I had to set up a highly advanced, extensive network of alarms. LOL This is cracking me up. When I lived in the fraternity my freshman year I was bad about getting up and usually in a drunken like coma, but since I've weened off that I've become a human alarm clock.
April 27, 200719 yr I tried having it across the room once, so I would be forced to get out of bed, but even if it was on full blast, I wouldn't hear it. I moved it directly next to my head and it hasn't worked. :lol
April 27, 200719 yr Author You need the electroshock therapy pillow Jets mentioned. Or train your cat. Or the other 'p***y' in the room (too easy/retarded).
April 27, 200719 yr I might switch the radio station to one of the really cheesy Top 40 stations or a hip hop station so instead of dreaming about how much I like listening to the Blue Oyster Cult, I'll dream something like "Jesus Christ, who's playing this crap? Turn that sh*t off!" and that will most likely wake me up. That cat is not trainable. That thing is neurotic and I'm pretty sure he's possessed.
April 27, 200719 yr Author My love (love), my love, my love, my love (love) You love my lady lumps (love), My hump, my hump, my hump (love), My humps they got you, Speaking of pets... My golden lab is turning retarded with age. He is really, eerily living up to his namesake (Nomar). When he was young he was a bad ass mofo. Fast as hell could play all day, obeyed everything, etc. When he got older and when Alexis (or in this case 'Mia') and I moved in together he became a sissy and likes her more than me now. He sleeps on the bed now too. Bastard. :mischief
April 27, 200719 yr Dodge you need one of those inventions they came up with in cartoons, where the alarm clock would trigger all these other contraptions, you know..... buzzer goes off, wakes up the pet mouse which runs in his little wheel which pulls a string that knocks some dominoes over which pushes a button that starts the coffeemaker, turns on your light on & starts the toaster, then a big cartoon hand raises you up in bed to give you a morning shave, smacks you in the head, puts on your tie, etc.
April 27, 200719 yr That sounds awesome (except the shave, I don't do that anymore). If I weren't planning to move in 3 months I would get to work on it. I think I'm going to try to build something that hangs from the ceiling and shoots me with a watergun or something like that.
April 27, 200719 yr Author What facial hair are you sporting now, Dodge. Its also been a long time since I asked if you still sport the pipe as well.
April 27, 200719 yr Full beard, my man. I keep the cheeks and the bottom part of the neck clean shaved, of course. Definitely sporting the pipe. Been a couple months since my last cigarette. :thumbup This one is just for you
