Apparently you haven't been listening to the print media, television, Governors or anyone else in North America... If you were listenting you'd already know that:

 

1) The Marlins didn't deserve to win. The inability to field a foul pop and a grounder led to all eight runs.

 

2) The Marlins did not contribute in any way to the rally, the win last night, or their overall success this series

 

3) The Marlins are the worst of the 4 teams left

 

4) The Marlins are the benevelant receipiants of blind and dumb luck and are are experiencing other teams' failures, not their own successes.

 

It really is a shame that the Marlins' story has been swept under a massive media-hype wave of the tired and overplayed stories of the Sox and Cub's sad-sack histories, futility and failure.

 

If you take away those storylines that involve teams' histories and focus soley on the teams that are actually playing this year the Fish are the best story going. Further, if any other two teams were playing instead of the Cubs and Sox the Marlins would be the biggest story to hit baseball in years and would of become the underdog favorite of most of the country.

Very Very true... it's sad, really... The Fish are the most exciting and inspirational team in this post-season.... All the more reason to Kill the Cubs tonight! Sadly, even if the Fish win, people will blame that fan... and I'm getting sick of the Red Sox hype too.

The 03 Marlins are similar (except that they're a better team)to what the White Sox were in 2000....nobody gave the ChiSox any credit for what they accomplished over that season--they were a young inexperienced team that Higgy of the Tigers said (that season)"The White Sox are going nowhere"...it was amazing that they got to the playoffs, but unfortunately, Sox ownership didn't provide the pitching they needed in the post season.

So now Marlins fans are experiencing what ChiSox fans have had to put up with year after year, (no respect), except that this year the Sox may as well roll over and die--the media in Chicago, when they DO mention the Sox these days, it's all negative stuff.

 

The Marlins deserve much better press than they have been getting. I believe they are better than the scrubs, and truly epitomize "America's Team". I look forward to buying a 2003 World Champion Marlins shirt!!
