  1. Unfortunately, I have a feeling there will be more Cub fans there on Monday and Tuesday since it's during the day. If there's a game on Wednesday night, I think there will be plenty of Sox fans there cheering on the Marlins, myself included. 550885[/snapback] Yeah, it's too bad they are day games, otherwise I think you might actually see a decent Sox contigent cheering on the Fish.... If I lived in Chitown now I would definitely go... I feel spiritually bonded to the Marlins... you guys don't understand what a thrill that NLCS was for us Sox fans.... sad but true....
  2. Man, it was great to have a team to root for in the post-season, and then watch them actually win it all! You guys have a great website, and your confidence throughout the post-season really impressed me. Maybe I'm just used to being so negative as a long-suffering Sox fan, but you guys taught me to believe. Thanks, and congrats, Fish Rule the World!
  3. Anyone notice the numbers by resentful Bostonians? Yeah, but notice how the Chicago numbers are actually up from last year... could it be those Sox fans cheering on their new favorite Marlins?
  4. As a Sox fan, even I have to admit McDowell has been a moron in prediciting the post-season... His World Series was Cubs/A's... HA! Laughable! The A's didn't even make it out of the first round. McDowell is a pitcher so he leans toward pitching, but has no respect for the type of ball the Marlins play. Go Fish!
  5. First of all, any team would have chanted something in the heat of the moment. Second, some a**holes do not represent all Cubs fans. Third, i know it's good for the rivalry, and that's why I had to argue it. Fourth, I find it halarious you have to stoop to the level of thanking the marlin because the cubs made it so far. I don't really have a problem with Cub fans, because EVERY team is going to have good fans and bad fans... my real gripe is how things are done in the media and how the entrie nation wanted the Cubs... which is why I jumped on the Marlin bandwagon, because I thought the Marlins were getting NO respect.
  6. Let me explain that I live in Seattle, which is about as far removed from Florida as it gets... Baseball fans here are still kind of "young" and don't know much, so they pretty much go with the national flow, and everyone wanted the Cubbies and Red Sox. I kept my mouth shut until I heard some co-workers discussing how sad it was that the Cubs lost. That's when I jumped up and tossed my arms in the air. Everyone looked at me like I was a kook. They all know I'm a W.Sox fan, but they don't understand the rivalry. So I said, "Hey, I'm for the Southside!" and they finally understood. Then someone said, "You are the first person I've met who was not rooting for the Cubs. How could you not want them to win?" I just said, "If you're too ignorant not to know why, then I don't have the time to explain it to you." Damn that felt good! Marlins rule!
  7. I actually searched around some sports stores last night for some Marlins gear, but couldn't find a thing (I'm far away in Seattle, so it makes sense). But I will be getting some Fish gear, and I will be here cheering on the Marlins in the Series (like I would really want the evil Yanks, or the lovable "cursed" Red Sox to win??) You guys rule!
  8. Yeah, and don't forget that whole owner situation with the Red Sox (isn't Florida owner former Red Sox owner?) BUT, I disagree with rooting for the Red Sox. I cannot stand to hear another series with a "cursed" team. It's making me sick... I'd rather have the Marlins beat the Yanks and have everyone on the Marlins side for a change. JMO.

I dont like the last quote...in a way it's making it seem like we didnt DESERVE to win that game. Apparently you haven't been listening to the print media, television, Governors or anyone else in North America... If you were listenting you'd already know that: 1) The Marlins didn't deserve to win. The inability to field a foul pop and a grounder led to all eight runs. 2) The Marlins did not contribute in any way to the rally, the win last night, or their overall success this series 3) The Marlins are the worst of the 4 teams left 4) The Marlins are the benevelant receipiants of blind and dumb luck and are are experiencing other teams' failures, not their own successes. It really is a shame that the Marlins' story has been swept under a massive media-hype wave of the tired and overplayed stories of the Sox and Cub's sad-sack histories, futility and failure. If you take away those storylines that involve teams' histories and focus soley on the teams that are actually playing this year the Fish are the best story going. Further, if any other two teams were playing instead of the Cubs and Sox the Marlins would be the biggest story to hit baseball in years and would of become the underdog favorite of most of the country. Very Very true... it's sad, really... The Fish are the most exciting and inspirational team in this post-season.... All the more reason to Kill the Cubs tonight! Sadly, even if the Fish win, people will blame that fan... and I'm getting sick of the Red Sox hype too.

Lay it on me, Admin. Wood vs. Redman, odds don't look good, but....?
  11. Dude, that is hilarious. "the young Trixie is not only excited to be frolicking and shreaking with all her best friends in a drunken stupor, but is also genuinely thrilled to see her team actually winning." Great stuff! It's obviously a satire... It is obviously a satire, but it's in many cases quite realistic, and is, even as a satire, pathetic, yet hilarious at the same time. No doubt, there's truth in all satires...

Okay, fish fans... who pitches next? How do things set up for the Fish to win? I think they can do it, but Game Six is going to be tough...
  14. Man, the Tribune is such an overrated P.O.S.
  15. If you want to spread your fan base - first you have to ACQUIRE one. Fair weather fans don't get it done. You need passionate maniacs! :thumbup This is a slap to us Sox fans too, further proving the Fish and ChiSox have similarities... we are seen as "bad fans" because we don't pack the park every night... the reality is, Sox games are not a novelty like Cubs games are. We don't get casual fans, our fans actually *know* the players on the roster. And our fans only show up when our ownership cares to put a winning team on the field.
  16. Just wanted to add that the Tribune claims Dusty is thinking of going with Prior and Wood on short rest (and that means Clement in Game 7?) What do you guys think of that?
  17. You gotta get AGon in there for his defensive... hey, most of these games will likely be close, so the big defensive play can save a game... no fear, Fish!
  18. That's right dudes... just get your pitchers in shape and you can win... the fish scored a few runs off Prior, they will score off Wood... Redman pitched well against the Cubs this season, right? GO FISH IN GAME 3!
  19. Has anyone mentioned Geno's? Dang you guys are making me jealous. There is nothing but Salmon and Thai food where I live.
  20. the chance that Prior gives up 2 run in 6 innings has worse odds than Juan Pierre hitting 3 grandslams in a game That is definitely not true.
  21. This has got to be the best thread in the history of the Internet... this rocks! You guys have given a depressed Sox fan some serious hope! I swear I'm buying a load of Marlins gear if they win this series!! FISH!!!!!
  22. I hope that all of you Sox fans will come back to this board and THANK the Marlins and pledge your undying loyalty when the Marlins beat the Cubs! :thumbup : Heck yeah, I'll be back praising the Fish for eternity... just to prove it, I will say that I still have a place in my heart for the Padres for what they did in '84. Whenever I see the Padres, I always root for them, and it's been 19 years since then!!
  23. CubKilla, what will happen with Borchard then? he got alot of money as a high draft pick. They're not going to give up on Borchard just yet, he has been playing CF, so he could fit between Lee and Ordonez if he ever develops.
  24. I'm in dudes! Long time diehard White Sox fan here begging you guys to beat the friggin' Cubs (or Flubs as we lovingly refer to them). I don't need to go into all the reasons why Cub fans are obnoxious morons, I'm sure you've heard it all before... please do the planet a favor and send the lovable losers HOME! Now on a more somber note, how do you guys plan on beating Wood and Prior?? I love the FISH! -pudge (my nickname is for Carlton Fisk, not IRod, but I love IRod too!!)
