May 20, 200719 yr Friends and fellow baseball maniacs, :mischief2 I am visiting Miami in June when Minnesota is in town. Any suggestions on the ball park as far as seating? Times the gates open for BP? Tailgating? Do they allow either? I almost bought some tix in Section 149 Infield Box. Are these kick ass? Open air stadium correct? Duh! Any good places to go after the game and hang and party? Sorry for al the meaningless questions but I am stoked! I cannot wait! See ya in June! Go Fish!
May 20, 200719 yr Infield box seats are kickass as far as neck pain is concerned. Anywho, gates are open 90 minutes before gametime. You can tailgate, it's just not all that popular. Many people don't show up until around the 2nd or 3rd inning.

May 21, 200719 yr I actually like 145/146 better than 149/150. While the latter are directly behing HP, there's a big screen that's annoying (at least to me). I feel the game better with an unobstructed view. You can move about freely until 30 minutes before first pitch. Go out to RF bleachers and maybe catch a long ball. Or hang by the dugouts for autographs.
May 22, 200719 yr parking lot opens 2 hours before the game. although a few weeks ago when i got there at 5 (for a 7pm game) to tailgate on a saturday, there were plenty of cars already there.. so they must be opening somewhat earlier

Where should I avoid and where would be a few good range hotels be to stay for a few nights? I am leaving on a cruise on Monday but do not care where I stay before that! Marlins game is a must! May 22, 200719 yr You could sleep at the Cheetah. Only kidding. Stay at Renaissance Fort Lauderdale in Plantation. It's very easy to navigate from there. 10 minutes from Ft. Lauderdale Airport. 12 minutes from Port Everglades, where your cruise probably departs. 15 minutes from stadium. 8 minutes from Runway84, a primo Italian restaurant. Every possible well-known chain restaurant within 5-10 minutes. Sports bars close by. There's probably a decent one in the hotel itself. All of these places either on the same road or just 1 turn away from the hotel. About $150 a nite. 4-star place. Not on the ocean, but you'll have enough of that on the cruise. You could also get away without a rental car if you wanted. I'm sure that there's shuttles running from the airport and to Port Everglades. And I'll shuttle you to Runway84 and the game, as long as you're payin'.
May 22, 200719 yr About $150 a nite. 4-star place. Yikes. Considering that you're coming in the dead of summer, I think you could easily get a 4-star hotel for about half that price on Priceline. Heck, using the dates for the series, I see a 4-star in that area for $99 on Hotwire. Winning priceline bids in Fort Lauderdale. I see a winning bid of $81 for the Renaissance in early July. Winning priceline bids in Miami Another forum with hotels won on Hotwire and Priceline, with identifying info like # of stars and amenities Anyway, I definitely think you should get a rental car, and I definitely think you're better off staying in the Broward county area, as the stadium is a lot more accessible from the north. That said, I've never stayed in a hotel here, so I can't give you any hotel-specific advice (though out-of-towners on here seem to like the Hard Rock -- $$$$). Sorry I can't be more helpful.
