Posted May 21, 200717 yr Anyone wondering about Hanley with RISP why it is so low? .194/.293/.194/.487 Not a pretty line at all. Most of his RBIs are off of his own homeruns (6 HR and 9 RBI), would it perhaps be better to leave him in the lead off spot if he has trouble hitting with Runners on base (.161/.299/.214/.513) stats provided by: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7488/s...kRajJJJ.suFCLcF Any thoughts folks?
May 21, 200717 yr I think Hanley can be okay at #3, but he's the best lead off man we have, and that should be his role for the time being. However, Hanley would be more effective as a leadoff if Hermida was at #2. Right now, having Amezaga/Reggie and then Uggla at the top of the order isn't all that smart.
May 21, 200717 yr yeah, with a 1-2-3 of Hanley-Hermida-Cabrera, we'd have a lot more first inning runs
May 21, 200717 yr I posted Hanley's numbers since going in the three spot in another thread...His numbers with nobody on is INSANE with Cabrera behind him, but with people on he has had only one hit. Maybe something like Hermida-Hanley-Cabrera would be interesting, so that Hanley is still protected by Cabs...But I'd rather him be leading off either way. If Hermida keeps hitting well, that should be enough protection.
May 21, 200717 yr All this talk of the trickle effect of Hanley batting lower worries me because Hanley hasn't exactly lit the world on fire with runners on, and I think that Hanley moving down in the order might not be responsible for the resurgence of our offense, merely a product of the other guys in the lineup performing. Hanley hasn't been involved in many of our big innings. I like him much better as a table setter at this point than a slugger.
May 22, 200717 yr His numbers w RISP so far don't indicate he's useless in the 3 hole. Thats kind of a luck stat in my opinion anyway, if a guy is batting in the mid .300s he'll start getting those hits with guys on.
May 22, 200717 yr I feel we are cramping Hanley's offensive capabilities by placing him 3rd in the lineup and it has been showing in the past few games. I love Uggla second in the lineup. more now that his bat is waking up. If a change needs to be made bring Hermida to 3rd in the lineup and leave Cabs as the cleanup followed by Willy and Boone
May 22, 200717 yr I agree with eddie, no need to move uggla down now that hes hitting, wait for him to slump first
