LOUIS POST-DISPATCH 06/19/2007 Addressing an increasingly piecemeal rotation saddled with the game?s highest ERA, the Cardinals on Tuesday signed free agent righthander Tomo Ohka and assigned him to Triple-A Memphis. Designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays on June 7, Ohka is scheduled to start for the Redbirds Wednesday night after technically signing a minor-league deal. The Cardinals agreed to pay him a pro-rated portion of the major-league minimum with the Blue Jays responsible for the balance of his $1.5 million contract. Ohka?s deal with the Cardinals stipulates he must be promoted within two weeks or allowed to ask for his release. The Cardinals previously had expressed varying degrees of interest in Ohka, who signed with the Blue Jays January 25. [Link] Wooo.. we signed our best pitcher.. I'm ecstatic!! :lol
