July 9, 200719 yr By the way, who did we trade to get Bryan Harvey ? He was closer the first 2 seasons after Hoff was traded......right ? Hoffman was never the closer with us.
July 9, 200719 yr Author Drafted him from the California Angels. He got hurt and went back to them but never pitched, I think. You mean he got hurt and went back to Cali after his 3 year stint with us, right? Because he never pitched again after 1 game in 1995
July 9, 200719 yr Bryan Harvey's injury was career ending while he was a Marlin. He had his last appearance 1995 in a Marlin's uniform to which afterwards he retired

Trevor Hoffman was never our closer About Harvey you might be right. As for Hoffmann, I know he has two saves with us, and then all others with San Diego. I believe he did close at least two games :shifty

He may never have been our "designated" closer but he does have two saves as a Marlin. July 9, 200719 yr I believe Harvey tried a comeback a few years later with the Astros, but it didn't take.
July 10, 200719 yr Not a bad theory. Amazega is know in the org as being the best defensive shortstop we have. And the AS snub could also have had something to do with it. But it was a deserved AS snub. There are far better defensive AS in the NL right now. A couple games after the voting is over dosen't change my mind on that. Miggy is playing up to his abilities at 3B right now. Those balls that were hits going between them seemed more a fault of Miggy's than Hanley's, IMO. Miggy would move to his left and then not make a real try at the ball. He was basically just blocking the view for Hanley. Hanley was making enough errors on his own, he didn't need the help from a team mate. And I gotta say that Jake is playing 1B better than I have ever seen him. Rarely would I see him stretch for balls like he has consistently as of late. My opinion is that those two guys playing to their abilities is making Hanley look much better. And Hanley has cranked it up a bit also. Andino is far and away the best defensive shortstop in our organization. If he could hit for league average production he'd be a regular. and lol @ the implication that all star games have ever been about defensive abilities. Keep hearing that about Andino, but never actually seen it in action either in ST or the regular season. Maybe they actually mean has the potential of being the best. Right now Amazega is the best. But Hanley sure can look good with a decent staff around him. lol all you want. But that's the problem with the ASG. The scouting report on Andino has always been that his glove his major league ready right now (and this was 2-3 years ago) and that if he could learn how to hit, he would find a starting role in the bigs. If not, he would be a utility guy at best. Yea, I know that. Being that they see ALOT more of him than I have, I have to go by what they say. I'm just saying I haven't been all that impressed with him from the limited amount of playing time I have seen from him in ST and regular season, but no doubt he has talent. I consider him trade bait sometime in the near future. We have Hanley, with a healthier roster we have Amazega coming off the bench for relief, and we have others behind Andino.
