Posted April 4, 200322 yr Good news for all you Marlins fans: ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves don't look anything like the team that won 11 straight division titles. Five-time Gold Glove winner Andruw Jones dropped a routine flyball to lead to Montreal's first run and Brad Wilkerson hit a two-run homer off Braves newcomer Russ Ortiz as the Expos won 4-0 Thursday to send Atlanta to its worst start in 15 years. Have the Braves finally come to the end of their impressive run? Or is this just an early season kink? On a personal note, I have ALWAYS disliked Andruw Jones and view him as THE most over rated player in MLB. That is all.
April 4, 200322 yr I don't care what they say about Ortiz and Byrd and Hampton. The thing that terrified teams about playing the Braves was having to see Maddux and Glavine and Millwood and Smoltz. It was an aura about that rotation where you were going to be facing all these All-Star pitchers. 2 of those guys were probably going to win 20 games and the other 2 would win 15. These other pitchers may very well have good seasons, but no one is afraid of them. The aura is gone. I'm still not writing off the Braves. Until someone finally dethrones them from the NL East they're still the kings, but losing those pitchers is big.
April 4, 200322 yr The braves have gotten off to a terrible start. They have traded away one of there best pitchers. In return they have gotten Ortiz and Hampton. Hampton has shown that he cant get a ball over for a strike in a long time. Ortiz needs alot of offense to be succesful to win. Byrd now sucks specially when he was with KC. The point is that they should of kept there team how it is. I predict they will be in 3rd place this season...
