Marcus Giles out of San Diego

I doubt his career is over. Sure he hit .230 but he doesn't turn 30 until next season and he had one lousy season. There are a bunch of teams who would take a flier on him next season and for years after that, even if he continued to put up seasons like his last.

His batting average has gone down every year for the last 4.

His second half in 2006 was also very mediocore.

Someone will probably take a flier on him with a MLD deal. But he had better perform to win a job next spring. Period.

I will bet you $50 he gets a guaranteed major league contract next year somewhere and plays.

you guys must be kidding me (the ones who are saying hes a minor leaguer or his career is over)

you dont think these teams will need a gap to fill next year and take a chance on him.

mets- if castillo leaves, and valentin turns 58

minnesota- lost castillo last season

pittsburgh- i think they have bautista/castillo but they have room

atlanta- put k.j. in center, and bring back giles (fan favorite)

los angeles- jeff kent turning 50

im sure theres more. i will go up and say i bet $100 that he makes a major league roster april 1, 2008

mets - better off with Gotay over Giles

twins - Alexei Casilla

bucs - you already said why

braves - Kelly Johnson is much more valuable as a 2b

los angeles - at "50" Kent slugged .500

In his defense, Kent would've only been 49 last year.

dont the dodgers also have tony abreu to play second who they are somewhat high on?

it helps to actually know teams before throwing wild ideas out there, especially when we are in an era where teams are pushing younger players more than ever it seems.
