Damn i forgot about the MLS. That league sucks. They dont know how to promote the game or the talent level is just to low. The US really needs to have a better soccer league. Becuase They are a joke.

 

BTW: how come football is called football? Its not even played with your feet like soccer the real football.

As witnessed by the trio of former MLS goalkeepers taking over arguably the best league in the world (English Premiership), I don't think there's much of problem talent-wise. But for a country that has the largest amount of participants in organized soccer, you'd think attendance would be higher than it is. One problem is that MLS wishes not to compete with pro football although nearly all teams have moved into their own stadiums. Most of the games are on Saturday afternoons, which is also the time that most youth and amateur leagues play. Not to mention even if the MLS could get the proper ad placement and ratings to appear on TV it can't because every cable sports channel is broadcasting college football.

Just think. What does ESPN and its networks and every regional sports network broadcast on Sundays. Mostly tape-delayed events. No sport wants to compete with the NFL. But there's no better time in the NFL's history to challenge. It's financial structure has caused so much player turnover that a fan's loyalty to a team is strained. Showboating, off-field problems, etc. is giving the league a bad name. And with the seat licensing and parking fees it has outpriced itself to the suburban middle class family that has a son or daughter in youth soccer and a poster of Mia Hamm or Landon Donovan on their bedroom wall.
