December 12, 200718 yr It was earlier today, and I caught a good bit of it. First of all, Alan Keyes is a nice reminder of the party trying to be 'equal', but the guy is so out of his element it's not even funny. I think the strongest showing was either Fred Thompson or Mike Huckabee. There was a pretty funny exchange at one point between Thompson and Mitt, and Fred double pwned him. Dems up tomorrow, but I won't be able to watch unfortunately.

December 12, 200718 yr Do idea why Keyes was there, as I didn't think he ever officially declared for the race? He still probably gets better numbers than Tancredo and Hunter...

The debate format we've accepted as a society is totally ridiculous.
December 12, 200718 yr Clim Clim Uploaded by dollarsandsense123 :lol that is just ridiculous. So stupid.
December 12, 200718 yr I already posted that. What is ridiculous about it? That the candidates, in their last debate before the primary, are sick of the pointless handshows and 30 second canned responses? God forbid we get some meat dished out during these things.

That's what I meant. I was replying to the video you posted, it is ridiculous that they all have to try to shout over each other and can only answer in a one word statement and the bitchy moderator wouldn't even give them 30 freakin' seconds to explain their position.
December 12, 200718 yr Ah, my mistake. From what I've read, the moderator did an awful job with this thing. Maybe someone who has seen it could shed some light on that. I've only read and now seen 'highlights' that were on PBS.

I've only read and now seen 'highlights' that were on PBS. She was extremely rude even for a moderator. She doesn't know how to keep track of time. Everytime she said '30' seconds or '15' seconds, she would generally try to cut them off a few seconds short (I timed it a few times) because she was so worried they would go over the debate limit. I felt like she was like a teacher in class and they were giving her oral speeches for grades. And she was so f***ing monotone and annoying.
December 13, 200718 yr If anyone has a link for the debate in its entirety please post it. They are replaying the debate at 9:00 on C-Span2.
December 13, 200718 yr Author Watched about half of it. Turned it off because I was getting sick of the moderator. Anyone else think Romney sounds like a huge phony whenever he talks? He is way too practiced and scripted, imo.
December 13, 200718 yr Author I've said it before, but Mitt Romney=John Kerry. Mitt has pieces of Kerry (the whole fake, scripted character) and Dean (physically looks like a president and appears strong and firm)
December 14, 200718 yr I've said it before, but Mitt Romney=John Kerry. Please expand. They are both rich, stiff, career politicians. At least Romney is a more interesting speaker. They also have both changed their positions many times on issues. After watching the clips from the debate, I really thought that Fred Thompson needed a nap, and Alan Keyes needed to get back in his time machine and go away.
December 14, 200718 yr Alan Keyes needs to just go away in general. He couldn't win a race for dogcatcher. Pompous ass.

December 14, 200718 yr Keyes is old school conservatism...before "compassionate" became a popular word, they sounded a lot more like him though granted he was always a reactionary.
