January 3, 200818 yr No matters what happens tonight, no candidate's response to the results will ever beat Howard Dean from 4 years ago. The media's purposeful assassination of his campaign was arguably the biggest example of the failure of American journalism in the last decade. Despicable. You say that like Dean's the only one. The media gets what the media wants.
January 3, 200818 yr I say that the Bush campaign's character assassination of John McCain in South Carolina in 2000 was the worst ever. It was just despicable, and it still shocks me to this day that McCain even speaks to the President.
January 3, 200818 yr I say that the Bush campaign's character assassination of John McCain in South Carolina in 2000 was the worst ever. It was just despicable, and it still shocks me to this day that McCain even speaks to the President. Agreed.
January 3, 200818 yr That was in no way connected directly to the campaign. What your supporters do is out of your control. Ridiculous assumption.
January 3, 200818 yr That was in no way connected directly to the campaign. What your supporters do is out of your control. Ridiculous assumption. Oh please. It was typical Karl Rove all the way.
January 3, 200818 yr That was in no way connected directly to the campaign. What your supporters do is out of your control. Ridiculous assumption. Oh please. It was typical Karl Rove all the way. Oh please nothing. This is a typical liberal urban myth. Please point me towards ANY real evidence that it came directly from Bush's campaign.
January 3, 200818 yr Yes the liberal mythology is vast with many beliefs and stories, but McCain's own political director said he thought it was Rove, so it isn't isolated to liberals.
January 3, 200818 yr Why is it always about liberals? McCain's own political director said he thought it was Rove. Damn liberals are responsible for everything. THATS what I was saying. Hit the nail on the head there F_M! There is ZERO evidence Rove was involved so until there is, it will be an urban myth that liberals 8 years later enjoy perpetuating. Its amazing McCain still talks to Bush to this day when he made up a rumor so obvious that kids on a message board have it figured out. :lol
January 3, 200818 yr Liberals aren't the one perpetuating this. McCain supporters have been for a long time. I even recall a debate moment between McCain and Bush where I thought McCain was going to straight up beat Bush's ass for this.

Its amazing McCain still talks to Bush to this day when he made up a rumor so obvious that kids on a message board have it figured out. :lol And not all liberals say there was direct evidence that Bush was the guilty party. My position has always been that I wouldn't put it past Bush and Rove for one second. Bush got extremely extremely negative with McCain in 2000. He was hitting him with everything but the kitchen sink. Then some random organization comes along and joins in on the fun in an amazing coincedence? And the same thing happens in 2004 with the Swift Boat Vets for Truth? We aren't talking about somebody who has no history of going negative here. McCain was pretty upset with him for a while after 2000 and basically called him out on national tv at the debate. Political practicality may have interfered with them being ok with each other later.
January 3, 200818 yr Please point me towards ANY real evidence that it came directly from Bush's campaign. Since that won't and can't be answered lets move on.
January 3, 200818 yr Something cool leading up to the results beginning at 8:30 Political junkies intently watching the presidential race don't have to spend tonight glued to the tube waiting for the Iowa caucus results to trickle in. Instead, they can monitor the results via the Web. Both Iowa's Democrats and Republicans will be posting real-time results of the 2008 presidential campaign's kickoff caucuses on the Internet starting this evening. Unlike voting in primaries, caucusing usually takes a few hours, especially for those on the Democratic side who have to deal with the party's set of complex rules and what looks to be a virtual tie in Iowa among front-runners Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and Barack Obama. Occasionally checking online may make the evening less tedious. The Iowa GOP has partnered with Google, which, once the results are in, will be posting them to Google maps so users can view Iowa Republicans' presidential picks county by county. Source Also, certain billboards in Iowa will be posting the results as they come in during their circulation of ads.

The media's purposeful assassination of his campaign was arguably the biggest example of the failure of American journalism in the last decade. Despicable. You say that like Dean's the only one. The media gets what the media wants. I'm not saying it like Dean is the only one. I'm just saying it is the most egregious example of the media neglecting it's responsibility in the democratic process. God forbid a candidate shows a moment of real emotion. He gets assassinated for it. sh*t like that almost makes me want to not be a journalist, when I watch people in the field disregarding everything they've been taught about integrity. I say that the Bush campaign's character assassination of John McCain in South Carolina in 2000 was the worst ever. It was just despicable, and it still shocks me to this day that McCain even speaks to the President. That had nothing to do with the media though.
January 3, 200818 yr The problem is that entertainment, ratings, and the media have been heavily intermingled. Can you imagine Edward Murrow or Peter Jennings saying something like "now let's go back to Howard Dean, screaming."
January 3, 200818 yr I think the most telling thing about that is that numerous news organizations apologized afterwards for overplaying it.
January 3, 200818 yr Just realized I hadn't put a prediction. Republicans 1. Huckabee (semi-comfortably) 2. Romney 3. McCain (over 15%, a BIG W) 4. Paul (9%) Democrats 1. Obama 2. Edwards 3. Clinton Two hours to go!
January 3, 200818 yr If anyone is on the fence on which news coverage to watch, as a man I'd like to recommend Fox News and their choice of using Megyn Kelly as an anchor. Good. God. Almighty. :o :o You will thank me.

January 3, 200818 yr :lol ! Seriously? Not to laugh in the face of fidelity and I wouldn't do it but you almost can't blame him. She is almost too hot to be delivering news.

January 3, 200818 yr Seriously: http://www.newshounds.us/2007/01/04/are_br...g_an_affair.php I'll be switching to FNC from NBC News at the top of the hour. FNC needs to go HD ASAP!
