MB.com Community Projection: Hanley Ramirez WEDNESDAY 2/20/08

Featured Replies

Alright, so I'll give this a try.

I've seen it done on other froums/message boards.

Here's how it works:

Simply make a projection of the player and I will count them up and average them at the end of the day.

For hitters, predict the following stats. (We'll keep it simple):

AVG-

OBP-

HR-

RBI-

SB-

Every day I will do a new player until we've completed the entire starting lineup/rotation.

I'll even include guys like Rabelo, Maybin, McPherson, Cantu, and Castillo, because we don't know if they'll be starting or not.

So today, we'll start with Hanley Ramirez, the face of our team and our best player.

I'll start it off.

AVG-.322

OBP-.394

HR-26

RBI-74

SB-59

This sounds familiar....

It's not like they made it up or anything, it's done on sports forums worldwide

ok, here's mine:

AVG- .316

OBP- .392

HR- 32

RBI- 104

SB- 35 (Considering he's batting from the 3 hole, he's going to get less opportunities to steal)

but Fredi has already hinted that he will bat Hanley leadoff

but Fredi has already hinted that he will bat Hanley leadoff

He did say he was going to start the season with Hanley at leadoff, but then see how things went from there. If Hanley's power numbers continue to rise like they did at the end of last year, he won't be batting first long. Let's not forget Maybin either who is looking like he may start on opening day.

Hanley is way too good to become a Soriano, he's going to become a producer this year and he will drive in more runs from the 3 hole.

Yeah...I understand that.

Believe me, I want to see Hanley in the 3 hole as much as the next guy...but Fredi is an idiot. Knowing him he'll hit him leadoff all year long

Agreed.... :banghead

All we can do is hope that someone puts some peer pressure on Fredi and forces him to move Hanley into the 3 hole. It would probably take Hanley hitting 4 homers in the first week of the season and some added media pressure to crack him.

AVG- .328

OBP- .395

HR- 32

RBI- 81

SB- 50 (why not? just cause he's batting third doesn't mean he'll necessarily get less opportunities. If he gets on base, he'll have the chance.)

Ok, the results are in!

Thanks to those who participated.

Hopefully more will participate as the process moves further.

So out of the 6 people who voted, this is what we came up with:

Hanley Ramirez

.314 AVG, .385 OBP, 28 HR, 84 RBI, 48 SB

These sound like very legit predictions. I could easily see Han Ram putting up numbers very similar to these.

Tune in tomorrow for the next Community Projecection :thumbup
