Screw the rays!..... I went up to St. Pete for the third game of the sweep last season, where a bunch of Rays fans made some Racist remarks about being Cuban. And were screaming things at us like "go back to Miami crack heads!". They had no reason to say those things they did. We were proud our team for completed a sweep against the in state rivals. We were all wearing our marlins gear, and we didn't insult any of their fans. Although, I don't think you can beat the prices. We paid 15 bucks a ticket. They were bullpen seats, that came with a voucher for a hot dog, soda, and chips. And, the parking was free. After the game, we ended up bumping into some other random Marlins fans at a gas station and we started talking with them, the guy said he's just a casual fan who stays home and watches the games on tv, but when he saw his team (Marlins) take the first two games, he woke his wife up and packed their stuff because he "had to be in attendance" to watch the Marlins sweep the rays. It's amazing how fans like this stay home and watch the games, and when the team is doing well, this guy decided to drive 3 hours to see a game. I give it to the guy for being a fan. And so much of a fan that he drove 3 hours to see the team play. This shows how the situation must be with the fans that just wont go to dolphin stadium.

 

Rays fans as a whole are trailer trash. I will never root for them unless it's for them to leave the State. All of a sudden they are getting air talk up here in Jax with their sweep of the Sox. I hate to say it but if they get good they will be Florida's team. Especially since the cable companies north of Brevard do not show that many Marlins' games on their FSN package. To get Marlins game sregulary you need DirecTV or Dish Network. It seems like the Rays are always televsied between their FSN and ION affiliates throughout the state. Also, they are playing series on Orlando every year which will build their fanbase, and the Braves are no longer on TBS. They are striking while the iron his hot. The Marlins will always be Florida's original baseball team though. That is kind of why I am sad to see the Florida thing change to Miami.

It really sucks for thos of us who live to far away to make it to many games. I grew up in Naples and the 2 hour drive made it possible to only go to 2 or 3 games a year. Anymore wasn't feasible. It was sad for me to see the attendence problems when I so desperately wanted to go to games.

 

Though I guess moving to CT didn't really help this problem...

Bandwagon fans = ticket sales.

 

I understand the resentment, but its not something to complain about. Bandwagon fans are a sign of good things.

 

In our case yes, in their case its their large city and big history.

 

 

i agree with both of you. the only thing that stinks is because of all the bandwagon fan there isnt any tickets for the real fans the buy. also the price of tickets and food, drinks ect at the game go up. i dont know what it costs to go to a marlins game or a rays game but if i want to to to a sox game and got 2 blechers seats $52, 2 hot dogs $8 and 4 beers $10.50 thats a total of $70.50. plus about $30 for parking if i dont take the train $8 for round trip. so now im at $100. 50 or $78. 50. this is why bandwagon jumpers suck.

Well people need to decide what they want around here. Either whine about the low attendance or enjoy low prices. Either whine about bandwagon fans or enjoy the team being prosperous. Because generally speaking, everyone here whines about attendance and how people need to support the team. Once they do, they complain about them jumping on the bandwagon. People need to figure out what they want and not cry about it. And get rid of the delusion that somehow attendance will double when the team is losing. Attendance goes up for winning teams.

BBTN's Kruk picked the Rays as the current surprise team most likely to stay on top...some other panelist picked the Fish...interesting that the Rays would get picked, specially in that division...lol, just shows you how easy it is to get a job like Kruk's...you basically guess and get paid for it...

The Rays have no chance against Boston or even New York, regardless of how bad the Yanks pitching is. Its going to be Boston's division again, and the Rays will falter and finish 3rd or 4th. I dont see why we cant be the team to keep up the momentum. Out of all the teams in the East, we match the worst against Atlanta IMO. Id like to see how real this team is when they take on the Phillies.

That's because the Rays have already had home series against the Yankees and Redsox. Both of these series bring in more visiting fans than a Mets Series does for us. We have had home games against the Pirates, Nats, and midweek games against the Braves. Again these are not big draws for visiting fans. I really could care less about attendence right now. We are getting a stadium and the team isn't going anywhere.
