whoda thunk it ! :notworthy

how long you think it will last? i see the fish staying in playoff contention for a good part of the season. the rays? idk, they are better than they have even been and swept the sox but they always play the sox hard same with the yanks. they could be the third best team in the al east and not make the playoffs. but then again it is only apirl. i will take the bold statement and say in the next few years they could maybe be better than the yankees. i dont think hank will buy the right players to make a good team like his dad did. both the fish and rays have much better farm systems than the yanks do.

Well, obviously we're all happy about the Marlins making it happen.

And I'll actually be happy for my fellow Floridians, because no matter what, I dream of Florida-only World Series. End the baseball season where it begins in the spring. Sunshine State series.

Yeah, unlikely I know, but it's more likely now than its ever been.

And I like seeing low-payroll teams stomp big market gazillionaire teams no matter who it is.

Honestly I'm not sure why the Rays even came into being. However I have nothing against them, I actually like Boston though as my second favorite team. So I hope the Rays don't keep it up.

i cant imagine being a red sox fan...depressed for 86 years, happy, depressed, depressed, depressed, and happy...and after being swept by the rays tonight...everyone here is talking football...and thats actually kinda rare

I went to see the Rays when they came to Orlando to play a series with the Jays. Their lineup is stacked and its pretty balanced.

They have a legitimate number 1 in Kazmir. they just need to balance out whats after him.

But they certainly have a good team, much better than the Jays & Baltimore.

this is why we are so bitter. lol the thing that really pisses me off is all my nieces and nephews think winning championships is normal.   i started watching baseball when i was in 4th grade i only had to wait 16 years to see the sox win unlike my dad who had been waiting since the 50's.  as 4 the rays sweeping us this weekend. no big deal. we are starting to get immune to getting beat by the rays. its staring to become a theme. incidentally when i was in 4th grade it was 1986. lol let me just say it wasnt buckners fault we lost. if calvin schiraldi didnt give up 3 straight singles which is how the mets came back from a 2 run deficient and bob stanley didnt throw a wild pitch ray king wouldnt have been on 3rd for mookie wilson to hit in to win the game. i blame the pen and john mcnanara for being drunk and not taking buckner out to put in i think it was  dave stapleton. in game 7 the mets  figured out hurst in the sixth, scoring three runs to tie the game. ray knight homered off calvin schiraldi leading

off the seventh to give the mets their first lead. the mets scored two more runs in the inning to go up 6-3. a two-run double in the eighth cut the met lead to a single run, but sox reliever al nipper gave back those runs in the bottom of the inning on a leadoff home run by darryl strawberry and a rbi single by closer jesse orosco. orosco worked a 1-2-3 ninth to clinch the title, striking out marty barrett swinging for the final out. so once again it was the pen that blew the game. so it wasnt buckners fault like everyone thinks it was.

I love the Marlins , as a Floridian i wish the Rays well because they have the same issues we have , particularly dealing a bunch of band wagon fans from the north in the stands . I cant stand all of these new Red Sox fans funny a few years ago i dont recall seeing all the Sox hats around town that I see today.

kind like how everyone is wearing celtics stuff here now. where were all these fans when the c's stunk?

Bandwagon fans = ticket sales.

I understand the resentment, but its not something to complain about. Bandwagon fans are a sign of good things.

In our case yes, in their case its their large city and big history.

i agree with both of you. the only thing that stinks is because of all the bandwagon fan there isnt any tickets for the real fans the buy. also the price of tickets and food, drinks ect at the game go up. i dont know what it costs to go to a marlins game or a rays game but if i want to to to a sox game and got 2 blechers seats $52, 2 hot dogs $8 and 4 beers $10.50 thats a total of $70.50. plus about $30 for parking if i dont take the train $8 for round trip. so now im at $100. 50 or $78. 50. this is why bandwagon jumpers suck.

Screw the rays!..... I went up to St. Pete for the third game of the sweep last season, where a bunch of Rays fans made some Racist remarks about being Cuban. And were screaming things at us like "go back to Miami crack heads!". They had no reason to say those things they did. We were proud our team for completed a sweep against the in state rivals. We were all wearing our marlins gear, and we didn't insult any of their fans. Although, I don't think you can beat the prices. We paid 15 bucks a ticket. They were bullpen seats, that came with a voucher for a hot dog, soda, and chips. And, the parking was free. After the game, we ended up bumping into some other random Marlins fans at a gas station and we started talking with them, the guy said he's just a casual fan who stays home and watches the games on tv, but when he saw his team (Marlins) take the first two games, he woke his wife up and packed their stuff because he "had to be in attendance" to watch the Marlins sweep the rays. It's amazing how fans like this stay home and watch the games, and when the team is doing well, this guy decided to drive 3 hours to see a game. I give it to the guy for being a fan. And so much of a fan that he drove 3 hours to see the team play. This shows how the situation must be with the fans that just wont go to dolphin stadium.
