New Renderings Released!!
To above comment, that's amazing news. This really makes the public transportation option viable, after all it's just a quick ride from the Civic Center Metro station to the ballpark. But, the upper deck as it stands looks to be one of the worst I've ever seen. Support columns, split seating, it's essentially a sloppy mess- I'd rather see something more along the lines of continuity of prior renderings. But, these are only renderings, thing WILL most likely be change and tweaked, hopefully for the better.

MLB Network
Will it ever be on basic cable, the one with like 80 channels, cause I taught that was the point of it being partially owned by Comcast. If not well that blows, especially with having to miss a good chunk of WBC games.

Some news from Clark Spencer.
Marlins Rumors: Max Ramirez, Pavano, Rhodes By Tim Dierkes [November 5 at 9:59am CST]Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald has the latest on the Marlins. The Marlins have had informal talks with the Rangers regarding catcher Max Ramirez. The Fish are willing to trade lefty Scott Olsen, though the Rangers are wary of his makeup and home run tendencies. The Marlins are OK with their in-house options if they can't work out a trade. The Marlins aren't interested in Gerald Laird. The Marlins may consider bringing Carl Pavano back to Florida, the site of his last success. Luis Gonzalez, Mark Hendrickson, Paul Lo Duca, and Arthur Rhodes are the Marlins' free agents. Of the four, Rhodes stands a chance of being re-signed. However, the Marlins have not spoken to Rhodes' agent in weeks. Juan C. Rodriguez reports that despite reports, the Marlins are not in on Junichi Tazawa. I don't know about you guys, but I do not want Carl Pavano. He bruised his butt playing for the Yanks, got in car accidents, had tommy john surgery, left hip injury, broke some ribs... he's been injured since we traded the guy. He's a disaster. It wouldn't hurt the Marlins at all though. They can only benefit from the situation. Exactly, buy low and sell high.

3.5 games back..39 games to go...not impossible, but not that likely. There are still 39 damn games left, don't hit the panic button and jump off ship. A four game win streak could put us in first place, it's not over, just yet. Yes, these games have been among the most frustrating, but hey we're at our low point, better now than in October or the September stretch- just ask the Phillies or the Mets. Remember over the past two weeks we have been going against the class of the National League and I don't know about everyone else but I expected us to struggle down this stretch. We have gone 4-7 since the Phillies' series and we have only dropped one game back, what does that say about the strength of our division. We are not the only ones struggling, but so are the Mets and Phillies- them doing so almost exclusively against the Nats and Pirates. But hey starting pitching is clicking and all we need is for the bats to come alive to gain back some ground. Who knows tommorrow might be the day we break out of this slump and string eight, nine, ten games together. So buckle down, show up on Saturday, cause at 3.5 games back we STILL got a pennant race.

World Baseball Classic Sites announced
07/19/2008 3:43 PM ET LA reportedly hosting '09 Classic finals Dodger Stadium gets semis, finals; announcement July 31 By Barry M. Bloom / MLB.com Dodger Stadium, which has been undergoing a major facelift, will be home to the semifinals and finals of next year's World Baseball Classic on March 21-23, the Los Angeles Times reported in its Friday editions, with the second round going to San Diego's PETCO Park and Dolphin Stadium in Miami a week earlier. The announcement is expected at a media conference in Los Angeles on July 31. The Dodgers haven't hosted a World Series since 1988 -- when they defeated the A's -- and an All-Star Game since 1980. Earlier this season, Major League Baseball announced that the 2010 All-Star Game will be staged at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. PETCO, which is the home of the Padres, was the site of the inaugural semis and finals in 2006. Playing in front of sellout crowds in the 45,000-seat venue, Japan vanquished Cuba, 10-6, in the finals after defeating rival Korea. Cuba, the perennial world baseball power on the international scene, beat the Dominican Republic to move on to the finals. Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka, who now pitches for the Red Sox, was named the tournament Most Valuable Player. Dolphin Stadium, home of the Marlins, was not a site for games during the inaugural tournament. The first-round venues were set several months ago with the Classic beginning March 5 in Japan. As in 2006, Tokyo Dome and Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico, will again host first-round games. In 2009, those venues will be joined for the first time by the Rogers Centre in Toronto and Foro Sol Stadium in Mexico City. Rogers Centre is the home of the Blue Jays and Major League Spring Training exhibition games have been played at the 27,940-seat facility in Mexico City. The 16-team field is the same as '06, though an expansion of the field to 24 countries and territories with qualifying rounds as a preface to reach the main competition is under consideration for 2013. Next year's brackets are as follows: Pool A -- China, Chinese Taipei, Japan and Korea, beginning on March 5 in Tokyo Dome, where the A's and Red Sox opened up the regular season. Pool B -- Australia, Cuba, Mexico and South Africa from March 8-12 in Mexico City. Pool C -- Canada, Italy, the United States and Venezuela from March 8-12 in Toronto. Pool D -- Dominican Republic, Netherlands, Panama and Puerto Rico March 7-11 in Puerto Rico. Attendance for the '06 tournament at its seven venues was 737,112 tickets sold, a major coup considering that the Asian bracket didn't reach the 80 percent capacity in Tokyo Dome that was originally projected. It was the first time that all Major League players were allowed to represent their native lands in an international baseball tournament. The baseball competition in the Summer Olympics, which is slated for Beijing next month, includes non-25-man roster MLB players only. In another new wrinkle for '09, a rules change has been made in the qualifying portion of the tournament, which will now be a double-elimination format in the first two rounds. In '06, there was round-robin play as teams with the top two records in each bracket ascended to the second round and the semifinals with a complicated formula of runs scored used as the first tiebreaker. The semifinals remain as a single-elimination competition to qualify for the finals. Unlike '06 as well, there will be a crossover of brackets in the semifinals rather than teams from the same bracket playing each other to qualify for the finals. Orange seats galore. Well, nice decision by MLB to put the Classic in Miami it might prove that baseball can actually draw down here. I had always thought that we would get a piece of the WBC pie, but only when the new ballpark was built. So I can't wait till spring, where today, I can't imagine how packed the stadium will be with a Cuba-Puerto Rico match up with seventy thousand screaming fans rooting for their home country. But on the other hand I can easily and morbidly imagine how empty the stadium will be if it features teams that people in this area don't care about like China Taipei or Japan. But hey, it's Miami- and the Classic coming to here is, well, good news
