DAN UGGLA!"
July 14, 200817 yr Pretty cool that this year, there is a possibility of having 2 2b battling it out in the finals.
July 14, 200817 yr just having two second baseman in the field is amazing... Uggla and Utley are definitely special players at their position...definite all-stars... anyways...it may not seem like Uggla is much of a favorite...but considering every derby i've ever seen...this thing has no guarantees...you never know who will get in a groove...you never know who will get in a slump...you never know who will tire out between rounds... I've been pretty surprised by the results of past derbys...there really are no favorites once it starts...therefore, if he gets in a groove, Dan and his caveman swing have as good a chance at winning this thing as anybody... go get em Danny boy!
July 14, 200817 yr Hey I was just wondering, how many marlins have been in the HR Derby? Three: Gary Sheffield (1996), Miguel Cabrera (2006) and now Dan Uggla.

Agreed, anyone can win it. The fact that there is a short porch in right field gives the Left handed batters an advantage imo though. Not to mention a Philly has won the Derby in 2 of the past 3 years. All bets are off.

July 14, 200817 yr Dan, in that pictue, looks like he means business. Sizemore, in his picture, looks stoned
July 14, 200817 yr Author Dan, in that pictue, looks like he means business. Sizemore, in his picture, looks stoned haha! Well Dan is all business, I dont know Sizemore well enough :| lol
July 14, 200817 yr I hope Dan wins but I don't think he will. You know a left handed hitter is going to win. My guess is Josh Hamilton. edit: I'm changing my guess to Lance Berkman.
July 14, 200817 yr Dan Uggla FTW. Chris Berman FTMute.. button. For real :lol Although I would love to hear him say AND HIS NAME IS....DAN UGGLA!!
July 14, 200817 yr Author Dan Uggla FTW. Chris Berman FTMute.. button. I love BERMAN calling the HR derby, its awesome! BACK, BACK, BACK, GGGONE! WAY OUT OF HERE!!!
July 14, 200817 yr I hope Uggla wins, but I think that a lefty will win this derby. That's what everyone thought last year too, and all the lefties were eliminated in the first round. In 2008, his name will be Dan Uggla.
July 14, 200817 yr It's batting practice...the fact that the right field fence is shorter isn't going to make a difference...Seriously these guys will be hitting it 400 ft+... Can't wait for tonight.
July 14, 200817 yr Ok here are some interesting stats on who is favorites in terms of numbers on paper: Uggla 13 AB's per HR Longoria 19.4 AB's per HR Utley 24.8 AB's per HR Berkman 26 AB's per HR Sizemore 27.5 AB's per HR Braun 28.3 AB's per HR Hamilton 31.7 AB's per HR Morneau 44.4 AB's per HR Interesting?

Just goes to show you, a healthy Uggla this season would be good for like 30-33 HRs right now.
