Vote on Florida Marlins stadium set; final sketches released

BY CHARLES RABIN

Two World Series titles aside, the most pivotal day in the Florida Marlins' history may be Feb. 13 -- when Miami and Miami-Dade commissioners are finally scheduled to vote on the remaining contracts that would give the team the permanent home it has craved for a decade.

On Tuesday, the new stadium's renderings were released for the first time, showing how the stadium would help reshape Little Havana.

Separately, County Manager George Burgess released the five contracts needed to close the deal Tuesday, saying the Marlins agreed to a host of concessions that make the $515 million stadium plan much easier to accept at the county level.

''We got more because I felt like we needed to get more,'' said Burgess, noting the baseball stadium agreement signed by the parties over a year ago, was just a ``starting point.''

Among the changes in the agreement:

• If Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria sells the team in the seven years after the agreement has been reached, the county would almost double its share of any profits.

• The ball club's $2.3 million a year in rent will go up by 2 percent each year.

• Extra costs due to scheduling or problems between the contractor and subcontractors will now be paid by the Marlins.

Still, the county's share of the stadium's cost is sure to jump from the previously stated $347 million.

The county and Miami are each in for infrastructure costs like moving electrical lines and road improvements that are expected to cost up to $10 million each. And both governments will also shell out $1.7 million in an attempt to keep the Little Havana ballpark as green as possible.

Has anyone been able to get a good zoom on the Loria's special center field element? I can see a couple of circles with text inside (aquarium?), but the pdf isn't high enough quality to read the labels.

I'm really excited! But man...did we need to have the vote on Friday the 13th? Do we really need anything else working against this project? Seriously...

It's coming down to the wire, I'm without a doubt going to be there on vote day, we should all try and be there to show our support in numbers.

Did anyone download the PDF. It is not loading via the web for me. I tried downloading it but it says the file is corrupted. Does anyone have the PDF to repost or email me?

\I love the design by the way. It seems like when the roof is open the park will have a nice open feel.

Yeah, it looks like the seats are blue, and it fades into a lighter blue in the upper deck.

Looks like the home bullpen is in LF while the away one is in RF. There seems to be a swimming pool out in left center (don't know what else that kidney shaped thing would be).

The thing in CF really looks like a tank to me, with maybe a ramp surrounding it so you could view him from above? Maybe they'll make him jump by feeding from there similar to what you see the Dolphins do in at the Seaquarium.

The dimensions are there too..

LF - 340

Left Center - 384

CF - 420

Center - 416

Right Center - 392

RF - 335

excited for the renderings but not my favorite design they have released

As far as I can tell, it is basically the same design from 2005.

What other design they have released that you liked better?

All of the versions have been similar, but I just think this one is a little bland. Assuming it is all mostly white like the renderings. I think the outside facade should have reflective blue glass or just a little more color.

I do like the circle cutout in centerfield.

I'm very glad they went with what seems to be dark blue seats instead of green. The stadium looks so great, and the roof the way it is designed is interesting, and unique!

this ballpark look very very good i like it this what we be waiting for long time i bet we see more at fan fest that be saturday before the vote let hope county and city vote yes pass it
