  1. Lol I missed that but nice.
  2. The reason I don't like them put simply.....their voices. They sound like those really bad monotone audio book readers.
  3. Fish: Ramirez SS Gonzalez LF Cantu 3B Willingham LF Uggla 2B Jacobs 1B Ross CF Treanor C Miller LHP I love this lineup. I hope they don't hit a ball to right....but if they hit one to left..AWESOME! Well the reason is obvious. If they hit one deep Gonzo will throw as far as he can, probably about halfway between left and shortstop where Willingham will be standing waiting so he can relay the throw to the plate. It's the new designated thrower rule.
  4. Hanley Hermida Jacobs Uggla Cantu Gonzalez Jones/Ross Treanor Until Hammer gets back.
  5. Very good game. This is what happens when you get quality starting pitching. You don't have to score 5 runs a game to win.
  6. He could make a mountain out of all the broken bats he has. I suggest the nickname Jeremy 'Broke-bat mountain' Hermida. lol
  7. I don't claim to know as much about baseball as a lot of you do, I've been a fan my entire life though and just based off of what I see this would be my lineup. Hanley Hermida Willingham Jacobs Uggla Cantu Treanor/Rabello Amezaga/Jones Pitcher
  8. I was actually thinking that. Are we winning because they are weak or are they weak because we are beating them? It's a two sided arguement there. Let's just enjoy winning regardless of who it's against.
  9. Let's take game two and the series tonight. Show everyone we are real.
  10. The only way striking out can be better than not striking out, is if not striking out means hitting into a double play. In a hypothetical situation. Nice... completely pointless, but nice. Here's a hypothetical Player on 2nd, one out. Strikout, next player gets a shot. Hot smash caught by the shortstop, toss to 2nd baseman... double play. Hey, my hypothetica is just as pointless as yours. A strikeout is the same as any other out with nobody on, and with 2 outs. A strikeout is better than a ground out with a man on first. So for upwards of 70% of PAs, a SO is better or at least not worse than any other out. Except the part where you completely ignored my saying UNLESS you hit into a double play. If it is an out one way or another, then unless there is a DP striking out is worse. Not by a lot, but slightly. Obviously with no-one on it doesn't matter. However with two outs putting the ball in play is FAR superior because you give yourself a chance to reach base. Where as on a strikeout you don't.
  11. Honestly I'm not sure why the Rays even came into being. However I have nothing against them, I actually like Boston though as my second favorite team. So I hope the Rays don't keep it up.
  12. The only way striking out can be better than not striking out, is if not striking out means hitting into a double play. In a hypothetical situation. Hanley on second, nobody out. Option A: Ground ball to the second baseman (Hanley to third), followed by a sac fly. Marlins lead 1-0. Option B: Strikeout, lazy fly, (?) Now you have two outs and Hanley on second instead of a run home. The only way not making contact can be better is if you somehow hit into a DP.
  13. Every sweep is a big sweep, bring out the big brooms!
  14. I think in the long run, even if he is the best option right now sending him down may be best. Miller reaching his full potential is much more important than getting an extra two/three wins this season. Just my opinion of course.
  15. As far as I'm concerned 4/22 is over.....whatever we did didn't work. That doesn't mean something else would have, or that what we did will never work again, but it does mean it was ineffective on 4/22. Anyway let's move on, unless this game really mattered that much to anyone that they plan to debate its strategy for weeks. Well, now that the name calling ended, it is just a discussion between me and Erick about philosophy. Which is great, as long as the name calling is over. We're all fish fans. In my opinion, for what it's worth, there is a lot of luck involved in this game along with skill. If any given call works, it's genius and if it fails it was stupid in the fans eyes. I don't believe there is a set strategy for any given situation, you play by your players strengths and sometimes just try to catch the other guys off guard. Like I said....on 4/22 it didn't work but it may in the future. You can't do the same thing all the time.

  17. There was good and bad with Miller tonight IMO. Bad: Too many hittable pitches, couldn't place his pitches at times, started off with poor velocity and so forth. Good: He found his way out of jams, found the plate when he needed to, and didn't get rattled when he could have easily thrown in the towel and gotten knocked around. That said I think he should get two or three more starts and if there isn't some sort of improvement he should be sent down. Afterall isn't it better to have a stud later than blow his confidence now? Anyway great win tonight, looking forward to more.
