The Stadium Contract

Featured Replies

I wish I could report that a contract has been signed, but I can't. Or if it has, I don't know about it. Does anybody know anything, has there been anything written in the last week or so, about where we stand. The last thing I read was a few weks ago that talked about 1 big company declining to even put in a bid...and then silence. One member here mentioned that Hunt was picked, but I don't know what that means. Anyway, if anyone knows anything, post please.

It's official. Link here. It just needs county approval. I don't know why they wouldn't approve it. Hunt Construction has made many great stadiums.

Thank you Trey. The story says that the 2nd of the 3 contractors declined to submit a bid. Leaving Hunt as the only one willing, so the Marlins picked them, by default. They're due to "meet" at months end. I'd say it's a bit of positive spin to say "It's official", unless there's something I'm missing. I'd still like to see Hunt and the Marlins agree on a contract. Or am I missing something?

Anyway, thanks again for the link.

Does anyone know anyone that might know someone who works for Hunt? I really want to work for them.

I was hoping a local company would submit a bid, like Stiles, but as mentioned earlier, Hunt has built some great stadiums.

If anyone from these forums is going to work n construction for the new park we need to make sure they bury a Jeff Conine jersey in the concrete.

Not only do I know nothing about the contract I dont believe anything anymore until I see ground broken for the stadium. We have been teased to many times for to many years

Hunt has a large website. I'm sure there is a career or job ops section. Try there.

Good luck.

Does anyone have an update on the contract situation? Last I read, Mortensen became the second of the 3 companies invited to make a bid.....to decline to even make a bid. Leaving the Marlins left with making the grand announcment that they had picked Hunt. As if they had a choice. Does anyone know if Hunt has even submitted it's bid yet? Does anyone know anything about how how the process leading to a contract betwen Hunt and the Marlins is proceeding?

OK....since I guess nobody knows anything about the current state of contract negotiations between Hunt Construction and the Marlins, or even if Hunt has put in their bid yet.....how about this one?

.

.

Would anyone like to speculate WHY 2 out of the 3 companies invited to place a bid, declined to even bid? It's not like these stadiums, or building activity(with financing in place) in general, is booming. Why would 2 capable companies decline to even place a bid on a $500 million dollar deal? Any thoughts? Or would you prefer to stick your head in the ground and just deny the obvious, and hope for the best, and go on talking about seat color and pretty renderings.

The others didn't think it was a profitable project at the budgeted amount so they passed on it.

I'm not talking about seat colors or pretty pictures until everything is final and the lawsuits are out of the way.

That's pretty much what I thought. Makes me a little concerned if there's that little profit, and the Marlins pledging I believe only 20 Million in over-runs.

I understand your point because of the past failures, but I don't think you understand where the stadium is on the "meter of progress." This isn't anywhere near the past stadium "deals." This isn't up in the air, or waiting for any sort of approval. This is finished. Lawsuit? Its a joke. It honestly is. Funding? The cost over runs the marlins made are bogus. The local government has invested more money than you think into this already. The marlins cannot backout. Period. I know you aren't going to take what someone online tells you seriously so I guess you'll just have to see.

I believe Polo and I both know more than you. We're not worried about lawsuits or Marlins backing out. Everything looks fine from your POV, but as you gain experience in business, you'll find that contracts are nice to have, not just talked about. I'm sure all of us want the deal to go through smoothly, and hopefully it will. It's just not as simple as it may appear to you.

What would lead you to believe you know more than squall? You can say that you trust your, and Polo's, views on this more, but to say that you know more than someone when you don't even know them is a bit ridiculous.

If I had to pick sides, not knowing either of you, I am going to go with squall, the guy who obviously has some sort of inside track or sources with the stadium and got us a sneak peak at a rendering.

I just got an email from the Marlins Fan Club urging everyone to respond to the Miami Herald. Seems the anti stadium people are raising all kinds of hell in their Opinions section.

Well what do I have to do?
