May 14, 200818 yr So I spent some time today looking over some stats. You guys should look at this before condemning Treanor.... The following dates are ALL the games Treanor has started this year. Aside from APR 17 when we got shutout 8-0 we have NOT been blown out when he starts. He calls a good game and I think that is Overlooked way too often when evaluating him. Opponents have only scored more than 6 runs in 3 of the games he has started this year. See Below. MAR 31 L 7-2 APR 01 W 5-4 APR 04 W 5-4 APR 05 W 7-3 APR 07 W 10-7 APR 09 W 10-4 APR 10 W 4-3 APR 13 L 5-1 APR 17 L 8-0 APR 20 W 6-1 APR 22 L 3-2 APR 27 W 3-2 MAY 04 W 10-3 MAY 08 W 7-2 MAY 09 W 7-3 MAY 10 W 11-0 MAY 13 L 5-3 Total W-L = 12-5 Runs RS-RA = 93-64

His Catcher ERA is 3.58 while Rabelo's is 4.18. That said, I think CERA is a crappy stat. But I would have to agree to starting Treanor. He is hitting better, he's calling better games in my eyes, and his D is pretty good.

Now it's that CERA is misleading because we don't give up many runs when he plays. I think it would only be misleading if all of Treanor's numbers this year weren't better than Rabelo's numbers, both on offense and defense.
May 14, 200818 yr Yeah, CERA is dumb. Sorry, Rab. Didn't I say in my own post that CERA sucks? I was just trying to explain what djm was saying. Retro said that we won those games because we put up tons of runs when Treanor started, even though it was more because we gave up an average of less than 4 runs in those games. Come on guys, read.

May 15, 200818 yr I was a Treanor basher but I've come around. The guy is an amazing game caller who saves twice as many runs with his game calling as Hanley creates with his bat. He also runs really hard on home runs and can hit bloopers and choppers with the best of them. Screw Hanley and lock-up Treanor.

Castro was the starter for about one month and was injured while doing it so I would leve him out of this discussion. Dunwoody, Lowell, Zaun, CJ, Owens, Redmond and Gonzalez had seasons just as bad or worse as Olivo's '07 season. Olivo was okay in '06.
