American Heritage School

Featured Replies

Hey everyone...this isn't quite minor leagues, but it is baseball.

American Heritage won 8-2 to clinch their first EVER championship in baseball...

oh and they're #1 in the USA!!

as a proud alumn, congratulations to American Heritage!

Well, considering they were basically rivals to my brothers school (Monsignor Pace)...hard to cheer, I guess.

are you sure? I was pretty sure that was only for public schools...

now the comment I made was purely speculation, but I really cannot see most of the athletes there paid in full...i know they offer acidemic scholarships and fine arts scholarships.

Purely athletic scholarships are illegal. Need based scholarships (aka academic/arts scholarships for kids who couldn't otherwise afford the school) to private schools are not illegal. Sometimes, at schools like Heritage (and the private school where I previously taught) it's tough to tell the difference when nearly every prominent athlete is on a need based scholarship. Some are legit, but some aren't. Whatever.

Man, and I thought my parents we off bad with the 10 grand when I was in Belen. That was ridiculous, because it was 10 grand, plus uniforms and books, plus a mandatory "pledge", plus other "donations". In the end, it would all come down to 12 grand.

I remember a QB came in, during my sophomore year, on scholarship. That kid might have been poor, but he was also dumb as a brick. If it wasn't for his ability to throw, he would have never gotten into that school.
