June 17, 200818 yr I don't know if I buy into either side of this innings versus times through the lineup discussion. Obviously the second inning is likely to be tough because that's where he'll be facing the heart of the order and the better hitters with the greatest frequency.

Obviously the second inning is likely to be tough because that's where he'll be facing the heart of the order and the better hitters with the greatest frequency. I didn't even think about that. But the point I was trying to make is that he isn't actually worse as the game goes on, he starts off worse. He also gets beat up pretty badly in the 3rd inning.
June 17, 200818 yr As I said, I don't usually give those types of arguments much merit. Until there is a worthy replacement for his rotation spot, the Marlins are stuck with him. I don't think improvement will be noticed in the bullpen. At least anything other than marginal.
June 17, 200818 yr My main point is...if Hendrickson is gonna suck (which he's been mediocre his whole career), I'd much rather have the younger guy, Badenhop, getting starts. ...And also reports from AAA suggest that De La Cruz is ready. Dean Treanor (the manager) says he doesn't know why De La Cruz is still in AAA...just read the threads Marlins2003 keeps on posting. De La Cruz is 7-3 with an ERA in the low-mid 3's...pitching with Albuerque (as we know, that's a hitters league). So...I wouldn't mind giving him a start or 2, either. He certainly has A LOT MORE POTENTIAL than Hendrickson, that's for sure.
