June 20, 200818 yr Talking about parking and food and all that stuff; When I lived in Chicago, to park at a White Sox game at New Comiskey Park was pretty expensive ($12 in '02) since there is hardly any room and the food wasnt so good. D.S. isn't as bad as we think.
June 20, 200818 yr Gas. I for one spend something like $10 on gas per game. That doesn't sound right. Your car must have extremely bad gas milage if that is the case. I think I remember you telling me you drive a 93 civic or something like that, so I wouldn't be shocked if it does get bad milage :whistle

But dammit man, you are making me do math now... I live about 25 miles from the DS (24.7 according to Google Maps). So that would be 50 miles. Add the three miles back and forth to go pick up AdrianneLove and we get a total of about 56 miles. My Integra with the 2.0 engine and a supercharger is estimated to get about...25 miles to the gallon! It takes 4.39 of premium gas to get me a gallon of gas. So...gas to a game costs me....$9.83! I rule.

June 20, 200818 yr I have been to chat rooms, message boards, forums and so on and so forth. One very dissapointing thing I hear from other fans though is "Wow Dolphins Stadium looks packed how many fans showed up 200?" It bothers me but I can always use history especially on the Phillie fans (Phillies -1980, Marlins- 1997,2003) I know no one on this board can really do anything about the attendance at Dolphins stadium (Terrible Stadium, wayyyy overpriced) but I only hope we get the new stadium deal figured out and finalized "SOON" so I can sleep better at night. Another thing, its nice to see a Marlins website, created by Marlins fans, with a "DECENT AMOUNT" of Marlins Fans here on a daily basis. Another big thing, little to no flaming, trolling, spamming, everyone does their job here and it makes everything that much better. Props to the Marlins Staff here. :notworthy :thumbup here is your comeback: yeah, there may be only three fans here, but i guarantee you those are the three biggest, most dedicated fans anywhere in the country. id like to see you follow and regularly attend games for a $20mil payroll team that the local media constantly poops on (despite how well we play) in a hot, humid, rainy, uncomfortable, oversized football stadium that is at least a half-hour away from 90% of the fans. look at the atlanta braves, for example. in the eighties, almost nobody went to their games except for a small core of diehards. when the braves finally started to win in the 90s those diehards who stuck with their team wore their loyalty to the braves through the bad times as a badge of honor. so will we. You see that as a negative?? I see that as a plus. Even tho I would argue the "90%" stat. Even if those that live south of the stadium argue the traffic flow means they have to drive 30 minutes or so to the stadium I have never heard any of them complain about the trip home. So what is it? 45 minutes round trip? To have the priveledge of seeing MLB teams play?? I would like to see the numbers for other stadiums and the time it takes their core of fans round trip. Because I would be willing to bet we are near the bottom of that list too. to be honest, i pulled the 90% out of my butt... i have no idea what the exact percentage is, but i do know that most marlin fans are split between north broward/south pbc and the nicer parts of miami-dade... both areas are about 1/2 hour away from the stadium. it never stopped me from going to any games, but i cannot speak for the casual fan. for me, it is a plus because i live in boca and the orange bowl is another 20 min away. however, dont place me in the group of fans up here that constantly bitch about the new stadium being in miami. to me, that is the only logical place to put it... even though i have to drive farther. id way rather drive to miami than fly to san antonio. And I live north of you. Exit 93 from the turnpike. At least an hour each way if no problems occur. And I'm not really bitching about the OB site either. Only that we will have to give up our full season package for something partial. But I don't doubt that after the new stadium smell wears off the attendance will drop again no matter how the team is doing in the standings. Until near play offs time. Then watch the bitching. Remember how hard it was in '03 for locals to get tickets in October?? Even for those that camped out at the stadium when play off ticket sales started? I say MLB ought to STOP the on line ticket sales for October play for all teams. Let the locals pretend they always cared.
June 20, 200818 yr Gas. I for one spend something like $10 on gas per game. Lucky you. LOL I don't even want to know what we spend in gas and tolls per home stand. And that's taking the wife's Accord instead of my van.

(I love being right) 2) Thanks to the supercharger, my engine will damned near die if I put anything but premium in it.

So I stand corrected. 25 mpg really isn't all that bad. Probably about what the wife's Accord gets. My van gets maybe 12-14 mpg. And I keep both vehicles running good thanks to a trustworthy mechanic when it is things I either can't or won't do. Computer run fuel injection systems, there isn't alot I CAN do anymore. LOL Now I pop the hood and scratch my head. Except that time a couple months ago I popped the hood on the wife's car to check the fluids and there was a python coiled up on top of the engine. Wasn't exactly scratching my head that morning. But it did wake me up real fast. And that's a whole other story... Staying off topic here, but in Friday's PBP (front page) there was an article on the myths and facts of how to get the best gas mileage from your vehicle. It was pretty interesting.
