June 18, 200818 yr Might I add, when I went to the Trop, the parking was free, and a 15 dollar bullpen ticket came with a free hot dog, free bag of chips, and free soda. Try to get a bullpen ticket at DS.
June 18, 200818 yr quick note on other teams with low attendance, we all know about Pittsburgh and (historically) Tampa Bay (not withstanding '08 of course)...but you know which stadium has always surprised me with some pretty low attendance? Turner Field... Seriously, with all the "success" of the Braves for the last decade and a half, I'm always shocked to see such a lackluster size crowd up there. :mis2
June 18, 200818 yr Well, I am glad you like it here. When people say that we have no fans and our stadium is always empty, bla bla bla... I just laugh it off. Ignore them. Anyways, people talk about us, yet there's other stadiums that seem to look pretty empty as well (Pittsburgh, for example). This is a pretty tired topic on these boards, so expect people to say something about it. When I bring up Pittsburgh people usually shut up. They even have a new stadium (some call it the best of the new ones) and still 8,000 to 10,000 a night. They have ZERO excuses in Pittsburgh. If you checK Pittsburgh is ahead of our team. not by much but ahead

What about the excuse of a poor front office that hasn't put a winning team on the field in what seems like a decade? The reason they're bad comes down to them not drafting well. Their scouting department is horrible. They've had high draft picks for years and years and haven't produced any talent from it. I don't blame the fans at all. Can't completely say that about the Marlins. We don't have that excuse. Maybe we haven't been the most winning franchise but yes not nearly as bad as the Pirates. They just downright stink most years.

If you checK Pittsburgh is ahead of our team. not by much but ahead Everyone is ahead of the Marlins :whistle But in Pitt they have one of the most gorgeous stadiums, if not the nicest in PNC Park. I'm not saying it should be sellouts every night but they shouldn't be so close to battling the Marlins for the "Crappo Fan Base" Award every year. Everyone on the board here thinks the panacea for this franchise is the new stadium, but Pittsburgh is setting the example that if these owners plan on making huge profits in the new park, they'd best get a great team in here. This town is even more intolerant of mediocracy than the Pittsburgh fan base that has 4 and 5 generations of a fan base to draw from.
June 18, 200818 yr Everyone likes the Marlins when they are bad. Seriously. ESPN, fans of other teams....when the Marlins are bad, they will say things like "Oh, this team has a bunch of young talent. In a few years, they could make a run at the division." But when the Marlins are starting to win ballgames, they make comments about the attendance, the struggle to a get stadium, the insecurity of the future in Miami, the team being too young to win, etc. Its pretty humorous.

June 18, 200818 yr I have been to chat rooms, message boards, forums and so on and so forth. One very dissapointing thing I hear from other fans though is "Wow Dolphins Stadium looks packed how many fans showed up 200?" It bothers me but I can always use history especially on the Phillie fans (Phillies -1980, Marlins- 1997,2003) I know no one on this board can really do anything about the attendance at Dolphins stadium (Terrible Stadium, wayyyy overpriced) but I only hope we get the new stadium deal figured out and finalized "SOON" so I can sleep better at night. Another thing, its nice to see a Marlins website, created by Marlins fans, with a "DECENT AMOUNT" of Marlins Fans here on a daily basis. Another big thing, little to no flaming, trolling, spamming, everyone does their job here and it makes everything that much better. Props to the Marlins Staff here. :notworthy :thumbup here is your comeback: yeah, there may be only three fans here, but i guarantee you those are the three biggest, most dedicated fans anywhere in the country. id like to see you follow and regularly attend games for a $20mil payroll team that the local media constantly poops on (despite how well we play) in a hot, humid, rainy, uncomfortable, oversized football stadium that is at least a half-hour away from 90% of the fans. look at the atlanta braves, for example. in the eighties, almost nobody went to their games except for a small core of diehards. when the braves finally started to win in the 90s those diehards who stuck with their team wore their loyalty to the braves through the bad times as a badge of honor. so will we.

Not to be rude, but if you had contacts you might be able to read text. "I only hope we get the new stadium deal figured out and finalized "SOON" so I can sleep better at night."

I like this noles. Very good comeback I might just use that next time its brought up. I have always fallen back on the the 124 year old Phillies and 1 World Series title compared to the 14 going on 15 year old Marlins and 2 World Series Titles :clapping
June 18, 200818 yr its not overpriced at ALL. i went to a broadcasting camp last week and got to take a tou of d.s. and got to visit the dolphisn locker room and the marlins dugout and stuff. it isnt over priced. this stadioum and all stadium has so many expenses these prices are completely fair

June 18, 200818 yr The chicken tenders are awesome, but they shouldn't cost more than the ones at IHOP or Denny's.
June 18, 200818 yr I am talking about the FOOD PRICES and PARKING... lol not tickets. The Marlins have the cheapest parking in our division. And a $5 hot dogs and $7 beers are not unheard of around the league. There's a stat that measures the cost of the average fan family. Every year the Marlins have been among the cheapest baseball venues for that avg family to buy drinks, food, hats, tickets, parking, etc. This year's report has them ranked 8th cheapest in MLB.
June 18, 200818 yr I'm done worrying about the whole attendance thing. Whenever the enemy brings it up, I just express my love for the Marlins and how fun they are to watch; don't even bother trying to argue with them. This organization is young, and attendance will only increase as the people who were 7-12 years old in the '90s begin to have kids and those kids (hopefully) are Marlins fans thanks to their parents. This is all theoretical, of course. The best way you can help attendance is to do some crazy shouting when you're at the games, impress the first-time attendees, and make them want to come back for more games. That's what I do. High-five as many people as you can.

You see that as a negative?? I see that as a plus. Even tho I would argue the "90%" stat. Even if those that live south of the stadium argue the traffic flow means they have to drive 30 minutes or so to the stadium I have never heard any of them complain about the trip home. So what is it? 45 minutes round trip? To have the priveledge of seeing MLB teams play?? I would like to see the numbers for other stadiums and the time it takes their core of fans round trip. Because I would be willing to bet we are near the bottom of that list too.

I used to go to Yankees stadium about twenty games a year from long island, talk about a commute to and from a game, night games are bad, rush hour getting over the bridge was no fun, i go to games here and it is a breeze coming from ft lauderdale.
